DH's car = dead

He's had some trouble with it lately and had to get towed home yesterday. It's just not worth it to fix it anymore. My dad says we squeezed all the juice out of it. Now we just have to get rid of it.

It's just parked for now. We have a friend who fixes up cars himself for his kids to drive. He bought Rodgers' old car that was nearly dead a couple years ago, and it's still running. We'll give him first dibs, then maybe post on craigslist and see if we can get more than the $300 we could get from the junkyard.

Rodgers is really depressed about it. It's a crappy car, but after the wedding, I still had some money in my savings account (which was now our savings account; it had been the paying-for-the-wedding account), so we paid cash for the car. We knew it wasn't a good car that it wouldn't last very long, but he sees it as a gift from me. And now he's sad that his gift is going away. I told him that, of all the gifts I've given him, that's the worst one.

The good news: my parents haven't been using both of their cars, since Dad mostly works from home and Mom works part time. He's just been driving her around anyway. So they brought us their minivan this morning and said we can use it as long as we want.
