Voting for the lesser of two evils

Anyone else feeling like this?

My independent DH has finally made his decision -McCain. He has said he is pretty sure Obama will win but in the end after watching all the debates, doing his research, watching the news etc. it came down to voting to the lesser of the two evils. According to him, he has never voted in a presidential campaign that he hasn't felt that way.

Re: Voting for the lesser of two evils

  • I've never expected a candidate to match me 100%, so no, I've never felt this way.  I'm lucky in that most of my views line up with the Dems though.
  • Yeah, I was going to vote for Nader until Sarah Palin came along. That really put me over the edge and I felt like I had to cast an anti-McCain vote. I think Obama is ok, but could definitely be more progressive like most Dems. Casting a vote for him doesn't send that message out but this year I am voting in PA so the anti-McCain aspect outweighs my wish to protest blah Democrats.
  • My DH feels like this with every election as well.  He hates both Obama and McCain, but is opting for Obama as an anti-McCain vote.  We are in PA.
  • I sort of felt that way in 2000. Bush hadn't been a bad governor in Texas but I didn't see him as presidential, and Gore was just not inspiring. OK, maybe I didn't really consider either of them an "evil" at that point, but I was not enthusiastic about either one. But this election is totally different.

    sigh.

  • I've never felt like this at all. ?I agree with mr+ms, and I would like most Dems to be more progressive. ?However, I like the track that most of them take. ?Obama is in no way "evil" to me. ?

  • I've only voted for president one other time (2004) but yeah I feel like that.  McCain is nowhere near my ideal choice.  Sarah definitely helps but I would have been a lot happier with Guliani.

Even in the primaries in PA I feel like we are stuck.  We always get everyone's sucky picks.

  • I'm not at that point now, but I was definitely there in 2000. ?Turns out, I voted for the evil one.
