cilantro plant - no idea what i'm doing!
I've acquired a clilantro plant and have no idea what i'm doing! i come from a family of "black thumbs" so i literally know nothing. i've just researched a few things.
as it's still cold, it's living on a sunny window sill. i don't think i'll plant it because the landscapers will probably kill it. i'm making sure the soil stays moist, cutting off yellow leaves, cutting off anything that looks like budding (for now), cutting off good leaves to use for cooking... how am i doing so far?
will the leaves keep growing if i keep doing this or do i need to let the flowers and seeds grow at some point and replant it? obviously if i want coriander i'll want the seeds.
if i want to bring some to my mom where do i cut it and how do i transport it? or can i?
any other advice is appreciated

I grew cilantro last year outside in a pot. I did what you are doing. I just trimmed off what I wanted to use and kept it from bolting by keeping the flowers off. At the end of summer I let it go to seed and I collected all the seeds. This year I stuck a few back into my pot and hopefully it'll grow back.
I had chives in the same planter outside and they returned and are growing even in this chilly weather we are having. I was pretty surprised it grew back all on it's own! I think herbs are pretty hardy
Chives are a perennial. They should come back in most climates.
I can't kill cilantro. It is everywhere, in my yard. So is dill and I've found lettuce growing in places it was never planted too.
