Moms who work outside the home please come in

A woman i have been covering since her maternity leave is coming back to work next week. I wanted to set up her space with a little welcome.   I was thinking a picture frame for baby's pic and something else.  What would you have liked to see when you came back from maternity leave?

  • that's sweet of you!

i brought my photos to my office in frames already, but i add new ones all the time (yes, mini shrine).

my desk was really dusty, having been gone 3 months. and i was handed a folder of stuff that was supposed to be covered, but wasn't really addressed - would have nice to come back to a fresh start of my own work instead of playing catch-up.

  • well i have been def taking care of workload and sprucing up the place.  what about flowers? i am going to make a little sign that says "Welcome Back Caruso's Mommy".

  • awww, that is very nice of you, flowers will be a nice touch and the picture frame idea would be nice as well :)
  • I think the flowers and a note would be a nice touch to welcome her back! You are very thoughtful!

  • a box of tissues too!!  needed those my first day back for sure.

the flowers are a nice idea.  I would have loved those.

  • Just a "Welcome Back" note would have been nice.  I think a frame for her baby's pic is a very sweet idea :)

A picture frame and flowers is very swet gestrue,

When I got back from my honeymoon, they had a poster board with all pictures from my wedding with my coworkers on it and all cute welcome back pictures, w and congratulations balloons tied to my chair.

It was very sweet and much appreciated

You are extremely sweet and i think any gesture you make is a sweet touch.

I had pics in frames that I brought in and basically, like Melanie with the dust, that was it.  I also worked during maternity leave so i came back to piles of stuff on my desk....no notes, posters, balloons...nothing.

I did get flowers the next week from a co-worker who has two teenagers (one in college) who said to me that people always give gifts for the baby but not the mom.  I was SUPER touched by her gesture!!!  Therefore, i think flowers would be sweet!

  • You are a doll.  How nice of you to think of this!
  • I think that's really sweet of you and wish someone would have done something when I came back!  Honestly, I think the biggest thing you'll be able to give her is understanding.  Understanding if she's blue.  Understanding that work isn't her priority anymore.  Just understanding overall.  I work in a pretty exclusively male field and understanding runs pretty low when it comes to that stuff.
