Any1 know anything about zoysa grass plugs?

We have zoysa grass on part of the yard that doesn't touch other parts, its separated by bushes and the driveway.  We are widening our driveway so part of the grass will be ripped up.

I was hoping I can transplant some of it like plugs and put it in the backyard.  Do you think I can do that now before it gets ripped up?  I'm in NJ so it's still cold and the zoysa grass is still yellow, will turn green in about a month or so.

What do you think?

  • I would say that is your best bet.  Keep the plugs outside.  Just make sure you dig down enough to not damage the roots of the plugs.
