Who has been to Portland?

I'm taking DH up to Portland next weekend for his birthday. I want to take him out for a nice dinner, but I've never been before so I have no clue!

Any suggestions??

Re: Who has been to Portland?

  • I lived there for 18 months and got married at the Eastland Park hotel! Where are you staying??

Drinks and an App at the Top of the East (looks out over the city) can be fun/nice way to start the night, or end it.

Dinner-If you want something fancy/yummy food. 225 (on congress) is yummy, Street and Company (seafood), Fore Street (need reservations, it's a yummy french restaurant) -Hugos Italian

More casual, but still fun-Davids In Monument Square, Ben Kay, King of the Roll-Great Sushi.

Lunch, brewry-Sebago Brewing Company On Congress, 3 story irish bar on Fore Street (can't think of the name)

Exchange Street, Warf street are fun to walk/shop, also Comerical street has some fun shops.

    Avoid Dimillos-Tourist trap

    Breakfast-Becky's Diner or Bintlifs

THANK YOU!! I'm definitely going to look into these places!

We're just staying at the Holiday Inn on Spring St. Seems like it was the best price and still able to walk to everything.

Bull Feeney's! I love it there. Sam has great suggestions! Bintlifs can be crazy busy too but their breakfast/ brunch menu is delicious.

  • Duck fat was a nice but cheaper place to eat. You also have to get bread/breakfast pastries at the Standard Baking.
  • Is that the Holiday Inn by the Bay? if so then you can walk pretty much everywhere.

The restaurant is 224 not 225 (sorry)

Thanks Madga, it was bugging me that I couldn't remember the name.

Also fun places for drinks-RiRas on Commerical, Rivalaries (sports bar), Bills Pizza is good for late night pizza if that's your thing:) Also Unas is a great martini bar, not good apps (at least when I lived there)
