BCV513 - Regis!

I can't believe there's another Regis girl on here! I almost never find anyone who's heard of it, never mind graduated from there!

I actually worked in the development office there when I moved permanently to Boston in 2003.  So we probably passed each other in the caf or something.  It was strange enough being there with the AIB boys on-campus; I can't imagine how weird it must be to have guys there all the time.

So if you don't mind me being nosy, what was your major?

Re: BCV513 - Regis!

  • Oh wow, I bet we would recognize each other! How strange is that

Oh God, I HATED having the AI boys there. I lived in Domitilla my freshman year, and I was so mad when I had to move to Angela. Of course, my best friend is marrying an AI boy this fall, so they're not all bad. Do you still work there?

I was a history and poli sci major and ended up being an accidental religious studies minor. I loved those professors and kept taking their classes. How about you?

  • Ha! I refused to live in Angela. I don't know why, but I didn't like it at all. I lived in Domitilla my freshmen & sophomore year. The day care center was there then, and my window both years was on the playground side. It was brutal. I lived in Maria my junior year, and then had a sweet single in College Hall my senior year.  It was awesome.

I was a Communications major, minored in English.  Was Dr. Smailes still there when you went? I loved him - he was one of my favorite professors.

And no, I don't work there anymore. I was there from July 2003- December 2004, and then was back for a month or two between jobs in fall of 2005.

  • Oh Dr. Smailes was my favorite! Just the nicest man. He's really the only reason I majored in poli-sci. I just loved him. Did you know Dr. Collamati from the theology department? He was amazing. He's the only reason I ended up with a minor in religious studies.

  • I knew of Dr. C., but I never took any of his classes. Did you get into the love one? I cannot for the life of me remember what it was called, but I remember there being a mile long wait list every year. I was going to take it my senior year, but I think it conflicted with my seminar or something.

I had a really great history professor, too,  who almost talked me into being a History minor. But I think the seminars conflicted.  Dr. Zeiger - was she still there when you went?  Her class on the 60s was my favorite class in all four years there.

I never took the love one either. I forget what it was called now. I took Ethics with him and something on the history of Catholicism. I was in that class when the Pope died, and it was really interesting to listen to him during that.

I had Dr Zeiger for a lot of classes, but she wasn't one of my favorites. I LOVED Dr. Mostashari though. I took her for Russian history and literature. She was so fun. She moved to Ohio I think.

  • Concepts of Love! Lord, I am glad it finally came to me, because I was going to start harassing people, heh.

I never had Dr. Mostashari; I don't think she was there when I was. Oh! Was Sr. Cicchese (aka Sr. Chicken) still terrifying people?  I took one of her writing classes, and she said, "you could be a good writer, someday. Maybe."  Gee, thanks, ya cow.

One of my favorite Regis memories is my friend dropping to all fours and crawling out of the cafeteria because Sr. Chicken walked in, and my friend had been avoiding her for months.

  • OMG how could I EVER forget about Sr. Marie Cicchese! I took Rhetoric with her. She was scary old-school. I'll never forget having to stand up in class and read what I wrote and then wait for her to rip it apart. I think she told me basically the same thing. "You could be a good writer if you weren't such a bad writer."

Was Miss Wilkins there when you were there? Sweetest lady ever. She taught theology too. I loved her. And I had Sister Lee Hogan a few times for poli sci. She was boring as anything, but nice. There was a rumor she had been in the CIA, but I doubt it.

Did you ever steal trays from the cafeteria and go sledding outside of Morrison House?

  • Yes, Rhetoric! That's what I took with her as well. I remember the stupid class was at 8:30 in the morning, and I used to want to kill myself when I had to get up that early. Ugh.  She was crazy pants.

We totally stole trays and went sledding, yes.  And I remember dying to know what the heck Morrison House looked like on the inside, and then when I finally got in, I was so not impressed, heh.
