I haven't seen one lately and I'm not sure if we gave up on them or if we are just missing MrsTice's leadership! So, lets check in....
What has gone right with your debt payoff since the last check in?
What could be improved upon?
What milestone are you most looking forward to reaching?
Re: Debt check in?
What milestone are you most looking forward to reaching? Now that the car is paid off we will start giving more to church, which is our ultimate goal in all of this. I'm also really excited to see my car fund grow by leaps and bounds now that the extra will be going to that.
We also just paid off my car this past week, a few years early. Our goal was to pay off my car before we started working on the basement finishing. Now we just have mortgage and student loan debt, both of which are "good" debt (we need for income tax write off purposes).
Unfortunately we just got the notice that our property taxes are going up to their normal rate now, which completely cancels out the car payment savings and then some.
We knew this was coming, but it was so nice to avoid those high taxes each month.
Thankfully we were operating in the black monthly anyway, so we should be able to continue to save for basement finishing, etc. It will just take a while longer (especially since we just had to pay $$$ for irrigation and other landscaping). Our longterm goal is to never have a car payment, although I am not sure how practical that will be with all of our home ideas as well...
What has gone right with your debt payoff since the last check in? We just paid off a car! Woot! Waiting for the title, but it feels great. I also have one more payment to pay off a student loan! Yeah!
What could be improved upon? With the added income of tax money I kind of blew more money than I should have, even though the budgeted money is still being budgeted, if that makes sense? I am planning a 1st birthday and Easter and I'm terrible and reigning in on that kind of stuff so I could definitely work harder on this. I'm always wanting to be better at my grocery budgeting.
What milestone are you most looking forward to reaching? We have the baby bill and our couch then all misc bills (minus mortgage and student loan) will be paid off...I'm super excited for this!
