white stains on oak kitchen table
Does anyone what you can use on a table which has discolored marks? Looks like bleach marks as if the color came off. I posted this before but can't remember the name off the item. TIA
Re: white stains on oak kitchen table
It's probably from water that sat on it too long. In that case, you need to add moisture back into the wood. I've seen recommendations to use stuff like mayonnaise and olive oil, but both of those turn rancid eventually. I'd try mineral oil first.
Is the table real wood or veneer?
Is there a polyurethane on the real wood?
Veneer requires special treatment. Poly can react with some cleaners.
For real wood. I would first putting baking soda on the spot and leaving it for one hour. Wipe and check stain. If that does not work, I would try a Murphy's oil soap solution (the measurements are on the bottle). If that does not work, I would try a furniture oil as PP said.
its probably from hot plates on the table. the heat damages the finish.
