Favorite places for brunch?
I feel like H and I don't get out for brunch enough. I love going to Burton's Grill for filet mignon eggs benedict. Any favorites that I should try?
Re: Favorite places for brunch?
DH and I were talking the other day how we haven't really been out to brunch around the Merrimack area since moving there... I went to a great place in the South End back in January but I can't remember the name of it (the waiters wore pajamas?). We need to explore the brunch scene around us more!
I know. There are a couple of breakfast places here in town, but nothing spectacular. I like fancy brunches. Ha ha ha.
We were even talking about grease-pit diners! We haven't done any brunches in a long time. I haven't even branched out much for in terms of restaurants around us...
Johnnie D's at Davis Square Somerville
Zaftig's in Brookline
Go early or bring a book, both have long lines for great food after 9
Well for fancy brunch there's always Henrietta's Table in Harvard Square. I have a hard time splurging for brunch, but I've been there once and enjoyed it (I don't think it was on my dime though; it's been so long, I can't remember!).
I second Stella in the South End; good food, generous portions, reasonably priced.
And there's always dim sum in Chinatown. Hei La Moon is a good place to try.
When I lived in Chestnut Hill I would go there ALL the time!
Really? Didn't know that! I live in Davis and I've actually never eaten at Johnnie D's.
I totally second Zaftigs in Brookline! I've heard good things about Top of the Hub's (on top of the Pru downtown) brunch menu as well. It's a fairly fancy restaurant with great views of the city. My DH and I like going to dinner there and enjoy their dishes.
Ooo ooo, PM which restaurant so I can look for you if we're ever there (and so I can be sure to save room for dessert
)!
Rock -- I just sent you a PM.
Got it and replied!
I love Hamersley's in the South End for brunch. Everything we have had there has been amazing. The meals are well priced, especially for the quality, the drinks are a bit expensive. I can't recommend this enough!
Beehive is fun. Beignets are worth the trip alone.
I did not love Stella for brunch, which is funny because it's one of our favorites for dinner.
Geoffery's is yummy. The doughnut muffin is TDF.
Some one mentioned a restaurant in the South End where the waiters wear pjs... That would be Tremont 647. I had issues with brunch there once and have never gone back.
For a budget friendly brunch, Aquitaine, Union and Gaslight all have Prix Fixe menus on the weekend at different times... around 10.00 and you can get a really nice brunch.
Metropolis has a nice brunch, but can be a bit crowed.
We rarely have brunch out of the South End. There are just to many yummy places that we can walk near by.
Ha, just as you don't love Stella (whereas I do), I wasn't impressed with Gaslight for dinner and had a really bad service experience there. Our waiter, who we were actually really nice to because he had hurt his arm/wrist somehow yet was still working, decided to give himself like an extra $40 tip at the end of the night. Good thing I double check my credit card bills.
Wow! That is certainly a bold move! ha ha ha.
