Interview Attire?

Okay my little fashionistas, I have a situation I need help with...

I have an interview at a running store (just for something to get out of the IL's house until we grow up and figure out wtf we're doing with life) this afternoon and have no idea what to wear. The employees just wear running clothes (my dream come true!) but it seems a little assumptive to show up for an interview in a sports bra :) Typical interview clothes seem a little out of place too, though - I would feel ridic in a suit.

What do you think? The other problemo is that we are at the IL's house, so I have a super limited wardrobe right now. Could I rock skinny jeans, boots and a cute top/sweater? Too casual?

Re: Interview Attire?

  • I would wear a pair of dress pants in a basic color like black or brown, and a simple sweater or blouse. Something suitable for church, but not all the way to business formal. Good luck!
  • i personally think that it's fine to wear that - given the place you are interviewing.

i have interviewed for a professional job in khakis and a cotton shirt as it was a super last minute interview. they understood the circumstances i was in.

  • I think basic "business casual" would be fine for the location. Khakis and a cardigan would be nice.
  • I say business casual, too. Khakis and a cardigan or something.

Blah, this is exactly what I do not have with me. I also lost a ton of weight recently (like way too much) so I look ridiculous in a dress because I have chicken legs (and it's FREEZING outside - literally) and the only pants I have are jeans and they're all too big, except skinny jeans.

  • Did I miss something? What happened to peace corps? Confused (Sorry, I am out of the loop!)

  • We've been cleared for everything for the Peace Corps but are waiting for an official invitation, so in the meantime we are just chillin'. I can't sit around the IL's house all day though so I just need something to get out of the house every day.

However...originally the PC said Asia in June and that pretty much narrows it down to China or Mongolia. I don't think I can handle Mongolia, though - we did a few months of no running water and no electricity in Africa and froze our a$$es off in Switzerland, so I kind of feel like we've served our "roughing it" time and am not interested in 10 months of insanely cold winters living in a tent in Mongolia.

So, we're in limbo right now. I'd like to go back to the Atlanta area long-term but need to find a big girl job there if we don't do the Peace Corps.

Gotcha! Cool - I can completely understand the need to get out of the house from time to time and feel productive. Good luck on your interview and keep us posted!! Smile
