BR: Teaghan Grace birth story

First I would like to thank everyone for their congrats, I recieved more for niners than our own friends.

I figured since the baby is sleeping I would give a little of her birth story and a few pics.

So technically my due date is not until this Friday but Teaghan wanted to come 9 days early. It started last Tuesday when I went to the dr to get checked bc I thought I might be leaking some fluid, turns out I wasn't. Before I left the dr decided to do a quick internal, and up to this point I had been closed. Well not today I was 4 pushing 5 cm dialted and having contractions that I couldn't feel. They monitored me at the office for over an hr before sending me off to L&D. I called Billy at work and told him to catch the next train home since his commute in 90 mins from the city.

Once at the hospital they started monitoring me and said if they didn't see much progress in an hr they would send me home. After 20 mins they had me walk  the hallway to see if it would bring on my contractions that I still weren't feeling. When the dr checked again I was a solid 5 pushing 6 so I was kept. After I was in my room the dr didn't check me again until 1 am (I was brought to my room at 7pm). When he checked I was still 5 pushing 6 so he wanted to start pitocin and check me again in the morning. About 15 mins after starting the pitocin I started feeling the contractions but they were very weak, at 1:30 I had my epi. So I really never felt any contractions.

The next morning at 6am I was checked again and I was checked and I was 6 going on 7 cm so they broke my water and I flooded the bed twice, I actually had more fluid than I was suppose to. That dr went off duty and a new one came on around 9am. When she checked me I was still 6 to 7 and she immediatly stated she wanted to do a c-section and I started to cry. According to her I wasn't progressing fast enough.

After the talk of c-section the nurse came in and asked if c-section had been mention with the previous dr and I said no. She felt I didn't need one and so did we. We brought the dr back in and told her we wanted to labor for at least another hr, if in an hr I didn't progress we would go with a c-section. The nurse then had me turn on my side and I started to feel a lot of pressure. An hr later when the dr checked I was 10cm and the babys head was all the way down.

The dr then had me labor for another hr to try and bring the head down further so I wouldn't have to push for long. One hr later I was pushing, but I couldn't feel a thing. The nurse had to tell me when because I was soo numb from the epi. After about 50 mins of pushing and an episiotomy Teaghan Grace was born March 23, 2011 at 1:13 pm she weighed 8 pounds 7 ounces and was 20 inches long.

I have never loved something so much in my life as I do her.

oh and Billy totally cried like a baby when they pulled her out and put her on my chest.
