Accountability?

We briefly discussed this last night at book club, but how do y'all want to start this?

Since I don't think anyone was officially weighing in this week, do we just want to state our goals & plans?

For me, I'm starting at 147.6 (I blame the cheese & PMS). I want to get down to 130. I was at 132 for the wedding & couldn't break past it for SIX MONTHS. Then I moved in with the ILs & it went downhill from there. Embarrassed

I'll be using the Livestrong app on my iPhone to track calories. I'm going to keep running, but incorporate more strength & different kinds of cardio (biking, swimming). I also want to do a sprint triathlon this summer.

This time, I want to set mini goals & rewards for myself instead of focusing on the big picture.

Mini Goal #1: Get back into the 130s. Reward?

Mini Goal #2: 135lbs Reward? Massage

Ridiculous wishful thinking goal? 125. If I make this, I'm buying myself a Louis Vuitton or something.

ETA: Obviously, you don't have to post any info you don't want to post. I'm posting my numbers so that I'll actually keep myself accountable to y'all.

Re: Accountability?

  • I started at 156.8 and I'm currently down to 148.2. I lost 1.8 pounds this past week (in big part to telling you ladies I thought I'd lose two pounds...it kept me motivated). The weight I lost this past week put me at 5% of my body weight loss so yay for small victories!

My overall goal is 130/135. I'm thinking more the 130 but it just depends on what my body looks like when I get there. I also want to set goals and rewards for myself along the way.

For my 5% goal I'm going to treat myself to a pedicure this week which I don't do often.

When I reach my 10% goal I'm going to buy myself a pair of shoes and/or a new purse.

When I reach 130/135 I'm going to buy myself a new bathing suit and/or pay to get some fun professional photos taken of myself (may seem silly but I want to celebrate).

I'm going to try my best to go to the gym more often this week as I haven't gone at all in two weeks. At the very least I'm going on Friday with CD but I really need to go before then.

ETA: I'm using WW Online so I count points and track on my computer or my phone if I'm out.

I had boudoir pics taken at 132 & I loved them! It was a major push to kick it up in the gym & maintain what I'd lost.

  • Love that dress! I'm going to a wedding at the end of next month that this might be perfect for...

So, how does this work? Are we just weighing in every week? Are we doing a daily food/excercise log like they do on H&F? I'd like to participate even if my quest to lose a few pounds is completely hopeless. My Dr thinks I might not be eating enough, but I swear when I'm training I feel like I eat like a 16 yr old boy! This will make me track calories on a regular basis. Last time I weighed myself I was 119....I'd like to be somewhere between 112-115. Not a lot to lose, but it's Just.Not.Happening. I'll have to think of a reward. Maybe an awesome bikini.

We don't have any set rules. We're going to check in every Tuesday and leave it up to everyone what kind of information they want to share. I'm posting my actual weight and each weekly loss because I know that keeps me more accountable but some people may just post that they had a good/bad week, how much they worked out etc. I'm going to try to post weight loss, whether I stayed in my points, workouts for the week, and workout goals for the next week.

Just post whatever you're comfortable with and what you feel will work best for you!

  • Last time I weighed about 2 weeks ago I was 146. My goal weight is 130.

I am not tracking food in any way, I have found that to be way too cumbersome for me. I am meal planning every Sunday for dinners to accomplish two things 1) save money at the grocery store 2) plan healthier meals.

My goals for working out are to do at least 4 classes at the gym each week.

Ahhh, ok. Then my weightloss goal is 5 lbs. Excercise goal is to run no less than 40 mpw (until my marathon) split up into 4 days, with cross training incorporating core & upper body w/a different cardio 2 days a week. Calorie tracking at least 5 out of 7 days, especially on my really long run days to make sure I'm getting the right amount of calories. At the end of this my main goal is to feel really healthy & strong with a great PR on June 5th for the race.

  • I weighed in this morning at 124.0.  I don't have a weight goal per se but will keep track of this anyway because I lost 10lbs since last October and want to keep them off.

I need to tone and build some muscle, lose some fat.  Last week the only exercise I did was walk 2 miles one day.  My goal this week is to walk 2 miles at least three days and do arm weights one day and ab work another day.

  • Obviously I'll be going in the wrong direction here for the next few months, but I just wanted to say I'd like that girl's boobs as a reward when I start losing again :)

  • Well... Now you are all going to know how chubby I am but that's okay.

My starting weight (my heaviest ever) was 220. I'm currently maintaining at 216. My immediate goal is to have a 1 as the beginning number of my weight. From there my first goal is 170 (the weight I was at when H and I started dating). My ultimate super-skinny goal is 150.

I'm currently going to the gym 4-5 days per week. Monday/Wednesday is Boot Camp and Tuesday/Thursday is Core and then either Upper or Lower Body. Friday is Spin. I'm tracking my calories on MyFitnessPal.

When I break the 100's, even if it's 199, I'm buying myself a bathing suit. I'll set more rewards once I've met that goal.

I went to a "get ready for the beach" seminar by a local plastic surgery group several months ago with some friends.  I attended to gain knowledge for "future reference" but my friends are done having their babies and were ready for boob jobs.  One JUST got hers done 1.5 weeks ago and she was really only down for a week.  She's still swollen of course now, but she's out and about and doing great.

  • My starting weight was 182, I'm down to 171.4 now with .4 weight loss in the last week. I was hoping to be 167 by tomorrow, but obviously that's not happening. I'm using my fitness pal to track calories and I'm doing c25k and walking. I'm at the same weight I was on my wedding day, which is exciting, but my goal is around 145. When I get in the 160s I'm going to do something fun, I just don't know what yet. I'm palm to reward myself in the 150s and 140s too.

  • Yay! Stayed in for lunch today and I'm able to check in on my phone. My highest weight was 184. I weighed in this morning at 159.5 (damn you cheese and chocolate!). My realistic goal is 145 and my dream goal is 135. But I'm not willing to give up eating crap sometimes, so probably 145 and I'm cool with that.I'm not starting hardcore until next Tuesday since it's my first week of work AND we're going OOT this weekend, but next Tuesday I'm going to my first WW meeting since last fall. I'm also going to try and get my workouts back up to four times a week and give up drinking wine on weeknights after work.

This is so good to hear. I fully plan on getting one after we're done with kids, and I'm a sissy when it comes to pain and soreness. Having a CS with Jeffery just scared me even more. But even when I do lose the weight, the boobs often keep me from wearing stuff I want to wear, and it's ridiculous.

Add me to the list! I have my ticker for weight lost, obviously. But I also want to tone up/strengthen. I've been working mostly with diet so far, but now that I've broken 150 (yay!), I'd like to step it up. This is usually where it gets tough.

I'm not really working out yet, other than walking regularly. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to workout while breastfeeding either of the boys (they get sick and irritable afterward), but we're nearing the end with Jonathan. My supply is dwindling and he's just not that interested, so I'm moving him to milk. I'm hoping to wean him completely by the end of April.

I do have to figure out workouts though. We don't have a gym membership, and it's too far to go to base. I will definitely do walking/running, but I need to find a gym too.

Anyway, my biggest goal is to be down in the 130's - 130 if possible, but would be happy with 135 - by one year postpartum (end of June). I may be okay with anything under 140 if I'm toning as well (as Lucky says, depends on how I look).

  • I weigh the most I have ever weighed in my life.  I have always pretty much been able to eat whatever I want.  I was 128 when I got pregnant with V, got back down to 127 eventually after having her and now I am at 141-142.  I blame it on my medication and being sedentary.  My goal is to get back to at least 130-135.

Clothes that I bought to wear in the interim of having a baby and losing weight are the only clothes that actually fit me.  It is too emotionally draining to try and wear my maternity clothes right now even though they are quite comfortable.

I don't have a scale at home and I don't go to the gym regularly (read: very much), so I probably won't be posting numbers too often, I guess I will hold myself accountable with how my clothes fit.

I guess I will try to get back into doing Zumba classes now.
