Hi~Atlanta Nestie dropping by for some recs!

Hi ladies, a friend of mine is engaged and wants to get married in the Jacksonville area, preferablly on the St. John's River. She has checked out the Jacksonville Garden Club and it wasn't what she was looking for, although she thought this was exactly what she wanted.

She wants a pretty outdoor setting for the ceremony and indoor (or tent) reception. She is also willing to consider other areas nearby.

Any suggestions? TIA!

  • Club Continental in Orange Park is the first thing that comes to mind. They have a grogeous outdoor space for ceremonies right at the river and an indoor space for receptions. My best friend got married there.

  • What was it that she didn't like about the Garden Club? I got married at The Cummer Museum next door & I can't say enough good things about it. http://www.cummer.org/ I have some non pro wedding pics in my bio (I think the link is still in my sig.) Their website says that they don't allow cermonies, but they must not have updated it recently. I was one of the first ceremonies last March. We got married in the gardens on the river and had the reception in one of the art galleries. She can also do a tent in the gardens. IMO it's much prettier than the Garden Club. You can also choose all of your own vendors which is what I really liked over a place like Club Continental...but that's also a beautiful venue.

ETA: I few professional pics that give you a better view of the venue. I'll upload after lunch. :)

  • If she doesn't mind having the ceremony and reception in two separate places she can always do the ceremony at one of the parks in the Riverside area. At least 2 Nesties on this board (including myself) were married in parks and then had receptions elsewhere. I had my ceremony at Memorial Park (which is on the river) and reception at Friday Musicale which is about 2 miles away. It also depends on what size and type of wedding she's planning to have. Friday Musicale isn't as large as some of the other venues in the area and you bring in your own catering, etc.

  • You ladies are awesome! Thank you so much for the rec's! She wasn't thrilled with the appearance of the Garden Club. She said it looked much different than the photos online.

  • Here are a few extra pics that can give you a better view of the facility. They don't have many pics online.
