It's official

I'm heading back to college (as I posted about a couple weeks ago).

And honestly? After discussing it with my boss I'm completely terrified and overwhelmed that I'm setting myself for failure and humiliation. I just feel like I need a good cryCrying, I guess I'm emotional today.

At the same time I'm REALLY excited for the opportunity.

After discussing it with the boss, she said that after I complete the courses that she would like to "phase me out" of my current position and create a completely new spot for me in the company. With future potential for running my own department. No pressure to succeed or anything... *que emotions again*

ETA: so you won't see much of me from June thru August!

  • Yay! Congrats:)

New things like that are always a bit scary but you'll do great, so don't worry!

  • Congrats and good luck! And that's even more exciting about the possible new position at your company!
  • You can do it, Michelle! Have fun with it!
  • That's awesome news! Congrats. I understand the fear thing, that's normal. But just try to think about what this will mean for your career prospects. And that is fantastic that your boss wants to create a new role for you. Congrats!!

Also, it may just be the plethora of Niners making pregnancy announcements, but tell me I'm not the only one who read the subject line and thought you were announcing that you were pregnant!

  • Congrats!  I know it sounds terrifying but once you're in the position, I'm sure things will feel natural to you!  Your boss must have picked you for a reason.

  • That's great, Michelle!

Even though the change and the feeling of being overwhelmed is scary as crap, I'm sure you'll be able to pull through. Good luck and have fun with it! Big Smile

  • I totally thought you drank the niner water too by the heading, but I just want to say that this is such an awesome decision. It won't be easy, but it's a short term loss for a long-term gain. It will definitely pay off!

Congratulations on making the commitment. YAY!!!

  • Yay Michelle! I know it's a scary feeling. I basically got shoved into gifted ed in the same way and was semi-forced into getting my master's degree, when I so wasn't ready to tackle it yet. It was completely the right decision. I know it's overwhelming, but I think you'll be really glad you did it and look back thinking it was "meant to be." Good luck to you!
  • I thought this was a pregnancy announcement too.

Anyway, congrats on taking the leap!  That's so awesome your boss will create a new position for you!   I get kind of teary when I'm overwhelmed, and I know this is overwhelming for you, but focus on the positive.  This can take your career into some really awesome places!
