Favorite children's books
What are your (or your kids') favorite books? I want to start a nice collection now that our nursery has a bookcase, even though it'll be a while before they are really useful.
Re: Favorite children's books
Shannon loves the "Elephant and Piggie" books by Mo Willems (we've got 10-12 of them)
The "If You Give" series by Laura Numeroff are wonderful
Those are two right off the top of my head. I'll come back later when my kids are napping!
Running on the Rhode
I hate you very much
It is so funny you say that Alicia. I had NO idea that there were more If You Give books aside from If You Give A Mouse A Cookie. Then on Sunday in church I saw a little boy with Mousse a Muffin and Pig a Pancake. I was in awe! haha.
There are so many kid's books I love. I actually have a list at home of books I want to get for Benjamin. I'll have to post some of my favorites when I get a chance!
In addition to the two you just mentioned, we've also got "If You Give a Pig a Party" and "If You Take a Mouse to School"
But, there are at least a couple more too -- "If You Take a Mouse to the Movies" and "If You Give a Cat a Cupcake."
And, there are a few more Mouse cookie books... but I haven't read those
I'm a sucker for beautiful illustrations:
Zen Shorts
Flotsam
The Lion and the Mouse
All In A Day
Follow the Line
Stone Soup
Free Fall
Tuesday
we love the todd parr books -- the peace book, the daddy book, the it's okay book, etc.
moo baa la la la is a great one for infants, as are leslie patricelli books
grandfather twighlight has nice illustrations
other random favorites that i have all the words memorized to, given how often DD reads them:
gossie
where is the green sheep
the big red barn
chicka chicka boom boom
a color of his own
is your mama a llama?
i love the sandra boyton books. like moo baa laa laa laa, and the going to bed book . DD also loved "where is your belly button" book. i forget who that is by.
i havent heard of the if you give books but sounds like i need to google.
My daughters love Jamie Lee Curtis' books "My Mommy Hung the Moon" and "Where do Balloons Go?"
The book "Ten in the Bed" has had to be re-purchased three times and needs to again or I could tell you the author
The "Where do Balloons Go?" has been my oldest daughter's favorite since she was probably six months old and I'd read it to her at night.
We love
The Very Hungry Caterpillar
Moo Baa La La La
Dr. Seuss's ABC Book
Goodnight Moon
Snuggle Up Sleepy Ones
The Giving Tree is awesome! I need to find DD's copy of it. I just love that book.
Also a big fan of The Hungry Caterpillar, The Grouchy Ladybug, and The Very Busy Spider - all by Eric Carle.
The Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss
They'll be useful very soon - read to your baby as soon as he/she is born! I read to all of my kids when they were babies.
