changing table height?

We're looking for dressers on craigslist to use as dresser/ changing table combo. How tall is yours? I'm 5'7" and DH is 6'1'' and I don't want to kill our backs. I found one that seems like a great deal but it says it's 30 1/2 inches tall-- that seems short to me.

Re: changing table height?

  • Ours is a plain desk that is 30" high, but we are on the shorter side (5'2" and 5'8").  It was a good height for me.
  • The dresser/changing table we have is 34'tall. I am 5'8" and my husband is 6'5". We already had this dresser, it was mine but after looking at changing tables I knew I wanted it higher. This is perfect height for us. High enough where we aren't killing our backs (and don't forget your stomach post-delivery), but low enough to where we can get a good grip on DD and push down a little when she is squirming alllll over the place :)
  • I think the dresser we got was 32in.  DH is 6ft and the height works for him as well as me (5'4'').  Dont forget you will add about 2 inches of changing pad to the top.

You can always bring a tape measure to BRU or another furniture store and see what works in terms of height then search online based on that.

  • I wish I could add insight, but I'm only 5 feet tall.  I have to get on step stools for almost everything.  Getting into the crib can be challenging :-)
