Really dude?
I had to be at work at 7:30am today. As if that wasn't bad enough, when I pulled into the dock at 7:31am, the guard that was supposed to have the door open (it's also the stage door) at 7:30am was not there. I saw no signs of his stuff being there, like he had just gone to clock in. So, I stuck around and opened the stage door because it had to be opened.
My rule for waiting on the guards is that I wait 15 minutes before calling the supervisors. So, at 7:45am, when he wasn't there yet, I called the supers. Neither of them could get him on the phone (they weren't at work yet), so no one knew where he was. So, I waited.
Guard showed up at 8:10am!!! 40 minutes late! And he just kind of strolled in, didn't really say anything to me. I asked where he was, and he just said "I missed the trolley". He didn't apologize or anything. I am, by far, the most lenient of the my department, so he's damn lucky that I'm the one working this morning and not my boss. She would have had his hide. I'm pretty mad about this. And I wouldn't be if he had just said "I'm sorry I'm so late."!
Way to start my morning dude.

3. If he truly missed the trolley, why didn't he answer his phone? I'm assuming he has a cell phone.

Okay, so the complete story, as per his supervisor:
His cell phone died in the night, causing him to oversleep (uses phone as alarm).
No time to charge the phone before scrambling out the door I guess.
Missed the trolley that would have gotten him here on time (it runs often, but not as often as mass transit in other cities).
Apparently he does feel bad, but was too scattered when he got here to apologize.
Hmmm, that is exactly why I don't rely on my phone to wake me up. I have 2 alarms and DH wakes me up if I"m not moving when he leaves for work on his late days. His early days, he'll get kicked if he wakes me up (he leaves at 4 am). lol
Accident's do happen but I have to wonder why he didn't charge his phone if that's his primary alarm. Maybe I'm just anal like that though. I DESPISE being late. It starts my day off all wrong!
