Pet Friendly House Rental on Beach??

H and I are looking to make a little road trip in April/May to a beach (anywhere, FL, GA, NC, etc) and take the dog. Its just us so we don't need much space... any ideas? I have checked VRBO, vacationrentals.com etc... I can't find anything small enough AND pet friendly that isn't totally gross or away from the water. I found plenty of 3 bedrooms and up, but I don't want to pay for empty rooms!!

Thanks!

Re: Pet Friendly House Rental on Beach??

  • Maybe check out some of the campgrounds?  We have taken a motorhome to several really nice campgrounds on the water (FL and SC) that also have little home/cabin things.  I am blanking on the name of the most recent one, but I know it was a family style campground in Myrtle Beach complete with a pool and lazy river! Yes  May or may not be your style. It can be pretty crowded during the summer, but we went in September, the weather was perfect and Charlston and HH are both close enough for day trips.

  • There are lots of realty companies in the Outer Banks who rent to families with dogs.  We go there every year, and have taken my Dad's dogs along.  Try Hatteras Realty, Sun Realty, Surf or Sound Realty, or Outer Beaches Realty.  They all have websites, and we have had great rentals from all of them.

  • Hi!

First time posting here but I thought I might be able to help a little as I've done a lot of traveling with my 9 lb. Chihuahua mix!

A couple years ago I took a trip with my family to Cape San Blas, FL. It's in Gulf County which offers all pet-friendly beaches (minus the state park nearby) so a large majority of the rentals are pet-friendly as well. Nearby cities include Port St. Joe, Mexico Beach, etc. It's definitely not touristy and requires a bit of a drive to get to much. BUT if you enjoy small cafes and lots of beach and nature time it's GREAT! I would highly recommend it. Hope this is helpful :)
