So anybody heard about UNF's student paper printing the risque photo of simulated oral sex? Just saw the article on a friend's FB page. WDYT?
Here's the link:

Not much in the way of information, but whatever. I honestly don't have a problem with it (wow, I'm really beginning to rethink my "conservative" ideas, lol). I could give a hoot about freedom of the press, but the more important thing here is audience. It's geared toward college students, covers a very important issue, and in a way that gets attention. Where's the problem? Granted, it's a bit harsh, but hey, whatever it takes!
I do wonder why they decided to focus on the guy "giving" and not vice versa as well. If you're really wanting to be accurate, then show both. Guys can be carriers with no symptoms, so that is the more dangerous situation in my mind. The picture they used can easily be misconstrued that it's solely a problem of women infecting men. But that's just a thought.
Re: UNF news and WDYT?
Its a college newspaper, so I don't care.
Not appropriate for more mass market media, but since that market is so segmented, I don't think its a big deal.
I can be prudish, so it did strike me as kind of graphic.
However, it's for their school, not the world, and it does catch your eye. It definitely served it's purpose with getting attention and hopefully will deliver the message intended, but I think it's been blow up so big now that it might be lost.
I saw this on the local news the other night. I'm fine with it, not offended and thought it was genius actually.
Totally. Look how much press they're getting.
This. I kind of love it. The only critique is that I think the text should be a little bigger, but the picture we're looking at is shrunken down so it may look better full-size.
And honestly, they can see worse in the grocery store or on TV... so that argument is stupid to me.
I saw the paper the other day, and no one here on campus really has said anything about it. The pic looks better on the actual paper. I should have kept it, I had no idea it would make the news!! While it was a shock to pick it up and see that, I'm not offended. Like CD said, it's a college newspaper.
This is the exact point I brought up to DH yesterday.
The cover is pretty shocking. I have not had a chance to read the story to see if it would have made enough of an impact on its own without the cover.
How is it that my BABY is going to be 3?
