Nice Things for DHs

Robin surprised me with a gc for a hot stone massage a couple of weeks ago for no reason other than he's great. I went yesterday to get it, and it was fabulous. Now, I'm thinking that I should come up with some great way to repay him. What's the nicest thing you've ever done for your husband? I need ideas.

Re: Nice Things for DHs

  • Last Sunday he had a vrey active day. He played hockey in the morning, then we went to lunch then he went out to play basketball. So, when he was on the way home from basketball I set up a nice hot bath for him and put muscle rub stuff in it. That's about the extent of my niceness. haha

OH! AND - I've surprised him with sporting event tickets before....and sometimes, I let him take one of the guys instead of just me. I've bought him groupons to go paintballing, etc.

  • Josh is soooo difficult to shop for or come up with a surprise for.

If he really wants something, he usually just goes and buys it. For our anniversary, I bought him a Ferragamo belt that he'd been eyeing for a while. That was actually a pretty good surprise - he wasn't expecting it at all.

What would be Robin's equivalent of going for a hot stone massage? What's something he loves but won't buy or do for himself very often?

  • Does he golf? You could get him and a friend a round of golf at a swanky course. Or you said he likes baseball, right? Tickets to a game? Who's your team? The Braves? Tho if you had to go away for a weekend, that's a considerbly more generous gift than a massage.
  • The best things I've done for him have to do with him spending time with his friends- either having someone surprise him out here or surprising him with tickets to LA/ Vegas/ wherever his friends are congregating.

  • We actually already have Braves tickets for a game in a couple of weeks. We're going to do a long weekend in ATL, since we decided not to take a real trip for Spring Break. Maybe I can think of a little ATL surprise? Hmmm

He's not a golfer or much of a drinker, and he doesn't really enjoy pampering in general. We had a couple's massage once, but really he only did that because I wanted to.

  • I usually do wrestling tickets or concert tickets, and I tell him to take one of his friends instead of me. Which is kind of a win/win because then I don't have to go watch wrestling. Ew.
  • Expensive things that would make D happy:

    - Detail for his truck, because he hates when it is dirty but never wants to clean it out himself.

    - He really wants an iPhone or iPad with 3.

    - There is always a long list of video games he wants.

    - A nice fishing pole

    - Some time at a shooting range

    - And on Groupon a few weeks ago they had this thing where you could drive around a racetrack a few times, like 200+ mph.  We almost got that.

But really, super fun sex is always his fave form of gratitude.  Always.  He doesn't mind spending money on me, but doesn't like when money is spent on him.  He'd rather I just save the money and do something sexy for him for free.  Works for me! :)

This always seems to rate highly on a guy's Favorite Things list. ;)

For H, I think the other nicest things I can do for him are to cook him a good weekend breakfast (he seems to love that more than when I cook dinner for some reason) and a good back/neck/head massage.  Or when I clean the whole house -- he seems really thrilled when I do that, but maybe it's because it doesn't happen much?

Like dbucks's H, he's not huge on me spending money on him, but seems pretty appreciative if I pick up a new shirt or something that I think would look good on him.  It's the little things...

This was already taken care of last night. Wink I was thinking more along the lines of material gifts, but I do like the breakfast in bed idea. I think breakfast in bed and a little morning fun this weekend could do the trick.

Is there any Brave's paraphenalia he's been eyeing? Maybe a new jersey of a favorite player or a personalized one with your last name on it? Then you could bring it with to ATL and when you get ready to go just be like "Oh I brought you this to wear instead!"

  • I just bought Mark a present for when the baby is born- a really really nice watch. No rolex or anything but that thing was darn expensive. He better like it a lot. Its doubling as a memory gift for our baby and his first fathers day gift.
