S/0, DH's birthday. Booked!
In the pp post, I mentioned that I usually don't get Jer a tangible gift because he buys everything he wants before I can get to it (or afford it). So, I try to do little trips or whatever.
I just booked us 2 nights at a wonderful hotel in Watkins Glen and two tickets to the Finger Lakes wine festival in July!!!!!!!
His birthday isn't until September, but he is going to looooove this! I hope we can take the motorcycle out there, that would be the icing in the cake (pun intended).
Re: S/0, DH's birthday. Booked!
Sure thing! It is called the Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel and I booked it through expedia. If you want something convenient, clean and inexpensive, we have stayed at the Holiday Inn, Waterloo. It has a breakfest buffet and a bar with darts and pool, which was really fun because they had a band playing also!!

Have you been before? I went one year and it was SO much fun! There are like 80 wineries and plenty of food vendors too. Plus for $5 you can take a couple of trips around in a pace car around the track. That was pretty neat too. I would suggest getting a cab or something along those lines there and back if you aren't staying right next to the track because they have breathilizers they make every driver do on their way out of the track.
Oh and if you have time, the Corning Glass Museum is nice too.
Red Cat, red cat, it's an aphrodisiac. Red cat, red cat, it'll get you in the sack. Hehe. Hazlitt's is my favorite winery.
We never, ever drive while drinking....ever. That would put everything we have at risk. Plus, we see DWI's everyday in the office and see the devistation it can cause.
We haven't been to the festival before and I cannot wait to surprise him with it!!!
Love that idea! We love that area- and hello, wine festival? Awesome!
Come and join us!!
I would never think you guys would do that either, especially knowing Jer's profession. I just wanted you to be aware of what happens there. I was a little surprised when they stopped us but I thought it was a good idea. There certainly were a lot of cars that weren't allowed to pass through and had to pull over into a parking lot for the night. Beats a DWI any day IMO. Good thing we had a DD when we went!
The hotel is less than 4 miles away, so I am sure snagging a cab won't be too hard.
The best part of living in Saratoga is that we can walk everywhere. It really takes the stress out of things.
I think they usually plan on having cabs available for the event. You're going to have SO much fun. Any time someone breaks a wine glass, everyone screams. It took me off guard at first. It's fun to see the holders for wine glasses, people go all out making their own little lanyards to hold their glass.
