  • The girls on the D&R board said the same, so I'll find a grey to work with it!!!

  • Yeah, I don't know if I would paint it either ... it's fantastic!  (My house, not so much and I painted it.)

I think if you painted it white, it's going to stand out from the rest and you will lose some of the character and beauty of it.

Like I suggested in the other post, I would probably stain the trim in the room darker (almost black, if not a black) and use that as your black accent with the grey walls.  I think staining it darker will still allow it to blend with the rest of the trim in the house rather than make it stand out.

I would then pull in white accents in furniture, pillows, artwork, lamps, shelves, etc.  Then any color you add will just pop in that room!

  • The trim is gorgous the way it is. I love white trim and would usually vote to paint the trim white but with a historic home I think the dark trim is part of the beauty of it.

  • That's beautiful! I wouldn't touch it!
  • Put the paintbrush down and do not paint the gorgeous dark trim!!!

Also...from a girl who has repainted 97% of her house, with about 70% of the trim being repainted, it's a HUGE pita, don't do it!

  • Oh please keep the original trim, it's gorgeous and gives the house character.
