Going green/eco-friendly tips-where to start?
I couldn't sleep last night because I was thinking about how we really need to start being more eco-friendly. We do the very basics right now(i.e use reusable shopping bags, recycle, and I don't buy bottled water anymore

) and I know we could do
so much more. Thinking about having children got me thinking how I need to start being more green for their future. Does anyone have any sites/blogs they recommend to help? TIA!

Re: Going green/eco-friendly tips-where to start?
I clean my microwave with vinegar and baking soda instead of chemical sprays.
Weather strip the sh!t out of my windows and doors to keep out drafts.
There is a green living board on the Nest. Maybe try there?
Homemade or green products (particularly cleaning products) is a great place to start. Jess P has a great list for homemade stuff. Making your home more energy efficient is another (unplugging/turning off chargers and electronics when not in use, setting your thermostat a few degrees cooler, switching to CFL or other energy-efficient bulbs, etc. etc.) Try to buy locally grown/produced products whenever possible. Once you have a baby, you can cloth diaper.
Just a few things off the top of my head....
I think the key is to start small and focus on one thing at a time. There's a great blog that can help jump start:
The area's we focus on the most are:
Cleaning: This list is amazing
Food (although eating organic/local has gone by the ways side for us now since it can be expensive and we don't have extra $$ right now)
Household - electricity, heat/cool, Health&Beauty products
There are many easy things to do that almost take no $ or effort!!
Thank you so much!!
I forgot there was a green living board on here too, sorry
