AW: I just signed up for my first 5K

I'm super excited.  It will be on Mother's Day in the early AM.  Now I just have to keep up the jogging, and try jogging outside.

Re: AW: I just signed up for my first 5K

  • debdeb that is great!  it is such an awesome accomplishment!  after running my first one 2 weeks ago i have since signed up for: another 5K, a 5 mile run, and 2 10ks!

you have plenty of time to get your strength and endurance up.  it was really hard to get used to running for 40 minutes at a time non-stop, but i feel great now that i can do it!  let me (and all of us!) know if you have questions or need pointers or just support :)

  • Good luck Deb! That's great!

  • That is great! I like running outside better, you can get lost in your thoughts and sometimes the distance doesn't seem as bad since you don't have the numbers right in front of you.

    Good luck!

  • YOU CAN DO IT!!!!

    Good job!

  • That is awesome Deb! I'll be running my first (with J) the day before you.

I think you'll find that running outside is so much more enjoyable (ha! as if runing were enjoyable) than running on the damn dreadmill. I honestly try to get outside & run as much as I can because I find the treadmill to be so boring and it's hard to keep myself on it, whereas outside I can spontaneously change my route & I find myself zoning out more.. which is definitely needed to keep me going.

steffie--thats great that you signed up for one as well!  no, not going to go down to DC for a race, not yet anyway!

one 10K is in july, but it is a 10K hike, not a run (no running allowed, actually!) and the second is in the fall sometime, november, maybe?

  • Thanks ladies!

Good luck to stef on her first 5k and shauni on her 10k's!
