Today was more than bad. It was an epic failure of a day.
Here are the highlights:
- a terrible interview w/ a contact of a friend of my Mom's. He was an older gent that kept calling me "cutie" and "sweetie". Gag
- my car, which I *just* picked up from being serviced for a recall, broke down in a questionable part of town. Was able to get it running enough to drive a few miles... then it broke down IN THE MIDDLE of the highway. Like I backed up traffic for oh, I'd say 40 minutes until the tow came. Mortifying. And clearly they either a) ignored other things wrong w/ it or b) didn't connect things back together correctly and made a bigger mess than we started
- let's talk more abt my car. While they were servicing it yesterday, they found a mouse nest and a dead mouse. Seriously?! Makes my skin crawl.
- lately my eyes have been bloodshot and itchy. Thought it was allergies, even though I've never had them before. Finally went to doctor and I have a non-contagious bacterial infection. From what? Good question. I look like a blazing hot mess right now.
Anyway, I'll stop crabbing now. How was everyone else's day??
Re: A bad day
TMI TMI TMI
Ok, I warned you!
I literally feel like I'm "full of sh!t"
I wasn't ever "regular" before, even though I drank tons of water and ate lots of fiber...I would go maybe once every three days. My entire family is the same way on my Mom's side.
Well, now I'm going maybe once a week, which can't be good at all. So, once a week I get these intense stomach aches and then I go, go and go some more.
Tonight I had one that lasted for 4 hours and it was just so painful. I wish I could just poo like a regular person!
I am so sorry you had a bad day
I obviously have tummy problems all the time, but constipation is a normal pregnancy thing. I had it bad and TMI once I could go, had a hardtime, if you know what I mean.
Oh, I totally know what you mean. It's like that saying "Sh!t, or get off the pot", yes, I wish it were that easy.
How bout this:
-Get to work at 7am to set up my desk and try to get things under control with some regulatory stuff before the day begins
-Cards don't work in elevators to access our new floor. Must take spiral stairs.
-Discover a bug in our reporting program. Report bug. Wait for bug to be solved.
-Discover that the geniuses in charge of the office move didn't order file cabinets for anyone in the legal department. They ordered one for every 2 people and magically there weren't actually enough for every other person to have one. We have 3 1/5 people in our department and no one got one. You know, because legal departments don't use files. I adversely possessed one from a techie.
-Go to have bloodwork for surgery (oh yeah, I've been fasting this whole time). Took more than an hour- not the 15 min I was promised, because a newly pregnant client was apparently chatty with my surgeon, who was on newbie duty (aka escorting people to the lab).
-Go back to work, continue to unpack. Boss 1 says he doesn't have anything for me to do today.
-Boss 3 comes in and says she needs x, y, z. I add these to the giant pile of things I have to do.
-Boss 2 comes in and asks about his file cabinet. Yeah. Since I was here during the office move I'm the person to ask. Fine. Order file cabinet.
-Go to 4 hour long meeting.
-Come back and work on things. One of our patent royalty payments was late. Sucks sucks sucks. Had to remedy. Crazy company applied payment from later invoice to earlier one, meaning our AP department had an error. Dealing with this is a PITA.
-Insert wild goose chase per boss' order here.
-Finally go home (at 6:30) and have to walk in the rain. Catch a chill. Now I'm sicky.
-Made dinner, tacos, shells are rancidly nasty for no apparent reason. No food for dinner.
-Emails continue all night where I get to do other people's jobs for them because it is apparently impossible to schedule appointments when all parties are available. I've been on my VPN no less than 5 times.
So, now I'm sick, tired, have worked ridiculous hours, and have jet lag. Wheee.
Amanda I'm sorry about your car.
And khart, I'm sorry about your issue too. Can you use a lax?
Stand up for something you believe in.
Amanda, sorry about your car and your eye. And I'm really sorry it broke down in the middle of the highway.
My day is a continuation of this week. The vision in my left eye is really blurry. Like if I had been staring into a bright light for a while and my eye is trying to adjust back... except it won't adjust back. My OB doesn't know what to make of it because I'm not having any other symptoms that would indicate that the cause is pregnancy related.... So I'm going to see an ophthalmologist tomorrow and will hopefully get an answer. Worse yet, I think my right eye is starting to follow suit.

Mary, I must have missed this somewhere... but why are you getting surgery... if you don't mind me being nosy????

I wasn't ever regular before being pregnant... but since being pregnant, I am very regular. I couldn't even begin to explain why, I always mean to ask the OB when I visit, but even now that I'm taking an iron supplement, I'm still not having problems. I am so thankful for this.
Have you tried taking colace or something like that? I know that's something my Dr said I could take if I ever have issues.

Mary, that day makes me
K-hart - drink Plum Smart Lite juice. That saves my life everytime I have your "situation"... which is more often than I care to admit....
And I forgot to mention a few other things abt this shiit hole day..
- my tow truck was a 3 seat truck with me and two men whose combined weight was appx 500 lbs. One of them sat in the middle since the truck was a stick shift and they didn't want to "touch me for insurance purposes". Their words, not mine.
- The prescriptions (2) for my eye infections on CB's shitty scrip insurance plan? $187. For less than 1 oz of eye drops.
- besides the recall, my car had this weird gas smell I wanted to have checked. They originally though the mice chewed the fuel lines but it was a manufacturer defect. So they "fixed" it and sent me on my way... or so I thought. My car was leaking gas and seriously could have blown up had it not broken down. Honestly, as much as it scares/freaks me out that I could have blown up, it majorly pissses me off that I wasted $46 on gas Sunday and it drained from 3/4 to empty in appx 45 seconds before I broke down. Somebody better fill me up and they are stupid if they think I'm refilling this smelly asss rental!!
Eye drops are insanely exp. I have EXCELLENT insurance- and my last allergy eye drop rx was $60.
I'm glad you're okay with the engine/ gas issue. I can't believe they let you go like that!

I'm having my endo lasered off in prep for TTC soon. My second lap in 5 years. The doctor keeps asking me if I am excited. Can you imagine my face?
Also, I'm sorry about your eyes. My mom's eye sight changed a lot when she was pregnant apparently, so I have heard of that before.

I seriously almost threw up when they told me how much the drops cost!! Thank goodness I had an HSA account from my old job I never used to pay for it... otherwise I would continued to look like a devil eyed demon....
I know your allergies are terrible... do you get them in the eyes too? The doc wasn't 100% sure the cause but suspected allergies. I'm terrified b/c my mom's are SO bad she gets appx 10 shots every 3 months just to live in her house. They have these special mattresses that are allergen free, had to rip up all the carpet in their house, and hire a full-time cleaning lady b/c her dust/mold allergies are so bad. My worst nightmare is to be like her!
Wow, mine are nothing compared to your mom's- most of mine are environmental and outside. I have near anaphalactic triggers from conifers, meaning pine, cedar, etc. and this year they have had really outrageous pollen blooms. Turns out, you can't inhale pine pollen into your respiratory system, so it instead traps in your membranes- eyes, nose, mouth, throat. So, I have respiratory issues from the cedar and the normal spring stuff, and all of the rest from the pine.
I have a normal mattress, I keep it and my pillows in a cover and I use a down alternative comforter. I keep the mold and dust at bay myself and have a full time job. I do have to say, my vacuum helps a ton- Bissell Healthy Home with the HEPA filter, and I keep a HEPA/ ion filter running all day every day in my house, so I do take certain measures.

Yea, hers are out of control. She has a special order dyson her allergist recommended. She travels abt 85% for her job so she used a cleaner occasionally so she didn't have to spend her free time cleaning but it got so bad that it just wasn't worth it to suffer through the attacks (she also has asthma) to try and clean her house. I'm terrified b/c she didn't develop them until her late 30's.
So I take it christmas trees are a no-no in casa de mary? Is it as cold in DC as it is in CLE? Mom's allergies were bad but now that we have appx 4 (!!!!) inches of snow, they've lessened.
Oh good luck! I would be feeling pretty overwhelmed. It's a lot to take in getting ready for TTC... I don't think you can prepare fully... at least not emotionally.
Was your mom's eye sight change permanent? I don't think I would be so worried if my vision was just getting blurrier... but it's more like something is obstructing my view and I need to wipe away whatever it is blocking my eye.

Nope- it went away. Hers kept getting progressively worse- she got 3 pairs of glasses in 8 months- but then it went back when she had me.
Stand up for something you believe in.
Good to hear that it went back!! The more I read and hear about vision problems during pregnancy, the more I find out that the main cause is hormones. I'm really hoping this is my case and not anything worse. I just read over on the May board that if it's glaucoma or high bp, I'll have to have a c-section... not ideal but hey, whatever is best and safest!

Yeah- my mom was viciously ill her whole pregnancy with me- she had toxemia (now called Pre-E) and we're different blood types, so essentially her body was allergic to me and she willed me in for 32 weeks. Her blood pressure was out of control high- to the point she started to lose consciousness the week before.
Stand up for something you believe in.
i hope today is better for you ortiz! hugs!
