would you apply for this job?

I have found a job that I think would be perfect, except for the timing as I'm pregnant and due in June.  It's a medical receptionist position at an ultrasound office and ultimately I'd like to get into ultrasound so I think it would be great.

At my current job I am elligable to get 100% of my salary paid while on leave, whereas if I start a new job (if I were even lucky enough to be hired) I would most likely not be elligable for any leave not to mention not qualify for fmla.  And with the receptionist job I'd most likely have to take a pay cut but it would be a great opportunity and probably worth it if that were the only factor.

Anyways, on the application there is a place to fill in when you're available to start.  Would you apply for the job and plug in sometime around when you'd expect to return to your current job on the off chance they would end up waiting that long to fill the position for some reason?  I was SO SO excited to read this job posting but so dissapointed with the timing.  Ugh.

  • Yes, I would apply. Applying <> taking the job.

  • It doesn't hurt to apply and put that date down. If you miss the opportunity, you know what you want to look for after you've had the baby.

    Best of luck!

  • Sounds like a great opportunity! I would apply and be clear I couldn't start till X date. If anything it gets your foot in the door and maybe they'll consider you later on. You never know what can come out of a contact!
