I heard through the grapevine that my SIL is making my shower cake. Let me preface this with: I am very greatful to be getting a shower and I really have no expectactions whatsoever. It will be a fun party with friends and family. I haven't been involved in any of the planning and I kind of like that at this point.
Now, SIL is a junior in high school and loves to bake. She even started making her own fondant. Typically if anyone has a birthday then she makes a cake. She does a good job, all things considered, but they're just cakes, nothing special. And typically: not that pretty. She has talent, she just has a long way to go! I'm just thinking that if there are 30 plus people, that's kind of a big cake to make.
And ok, maybe I do want pretty shower details. So shoot me.
Re: Ugh, I'm a bia
Hmmm. Maybe this will be her chance to really pull out all the stops? Or maybe they are planning to do a smaller cake and then a bunch of cupcakes? Is there any way Travis could ask (I'm assuming this is his sister)?
I don't think your a bia for wanting your shower cake to be pretty

I might have him ask about it, just to get a little more info. He's not always Mr.Slick though, so I'll have to do some coaching before hand.
The Sand in My Snow Boots
My mom wants to throw my shower when I'm 38 weeks...I found out through the grapevine.
She is going bananas trying to keep every single detail a secret from me, but this makes me want to SCREAM.
I'm honestly kind of glad I know about this at least before hand. I've seen way too many cute/overdone showers on blogs and stuff. I told myself not to expect that because I know that's not what it'll be.

Hmm..
I think it's crazy nice of her to do this....
Here's my idea. Maybe Travis can say he doesn't want her to make a cake for 30 people, and find another task she can help with...if she is adament on baking, like making favor cookies for all the guests to bring home. Or cupcakes.
That way someone else can purchase a cake or bring one....if cake is super important to you...
