Top Chef All Stars finale (spoilers)
Did anyone else watch last night?
I was relieved that Richard won. I really really really did not want Mike to win. His food seems good but I can't stand his personality and he would have been insufferable if he won. Really I was rooting for Carla, then Antonia, so Richard was sort of my default favorite, but I am happy for him.
I thought it was a bummer that Mike had three family members there and Richard's wife couldn't come so all he had was his uncle. I also was wondering if Richard really waited until the interview to call his wife and tell her he won - I figured he would be bursting at the seams to call and tell her. But I've also read that the judging can go into the middle of the night for the finale so maybe he waited until an appropriate time of day to call.
I liked that they had a whole restaurant to run and I liked the way the judges switched off. Spike looked so bummed when he got picked first and I was worried about him but it looks like he worked out fine in the end and might have helped Richard to win with his eavesdropping skills. He looked totally shady. Also, was that the nicest outfit he brought with him? He looked super under dressed compared to the diners. Weird.
I watched most of the Watch What Happens Live afterward. Mike seemed drunk and was really annoying. It sounded like Jen was drunk (off camera) too.
I really enjoyed this season and am sad that it's over. I can't get into Top Chef Masters for some reason.

I'm glad Richard won too, though really the top handful of contestants were disappointing. They let some people go way too early on.
Spike definitely looked super weird in his outfit. It was nice that there wasn't any kitchen drama though and that everyone acted like the pro they are.
I watched the aftershow too. I thought it was annoying how they kept referring to other contestants and other people in the audience but never showed them. It was also confusing how they kept saying they'd find out in a few minutes who the winner was, as if that was being decided live when clearly it had been pre-recorded.
I love Top Chef Masters and will definitely be watching it. I've really gotta go to more of their restaurants!
