Yays and Boos

Yay!:

I had to add a new hole to my belt this morning.

We're going to the Po Boy factory tomight, a local NOLA style place. All the talk about New Orleans yesterday has me craving some Cajun food. Also, we have a groupon, so it's sorta like free.

Boo!:

We have to pay $1399 in federal taxes this year. I almost want to cry just writing that. Two teachers and we owe that much! There goes my vacation fund.

Also, it's cold, gray, and raining for literally the sixth day in a row. Where the f is Spring?

Re: Yays and Boos

  • Yay: It's payday tomorrow.

Boo: It's also going to snow here. They're talking anywhere from torrential rain to 12 inches of snow, depending on where in MA you are.

  • That's awesome about your belt! I have to add holes in mine to, but going the opposite way, boo.

Mmmm, I don't know what a Po Boy is, but it sounds delicious. I love Groupon! I

That really sucks about your taxes. I know exactly how you feel. Last year we had to pay over 5k in taxes and had to take a loan out for it that we are still paying off. It's the biggest let down ever when you're faced with that kind of news. I wonder why you had to owe so much, do you know how you withhold? Hopefully you can figure things out and you'll have a much better outcome next year. Still, I know it really, really sucks and I'm sorry that you have to owe so much!

Yes, the weather is evil and I'm so ready for spring.

  • Yay: Wine tasting date w/ my Dad tonight at our favorite wine house!

BOO: (I have a lot more boos right now...)

    - the snow

    - my eyes and how awful I look right now

    - possibly won't have my car back until Monday, and the rental is an enormous, gas guzzling, pick-up truck that barely fits in my garage space and smells like death

    - we owe a lot for taxes too, DD. Not awesome.

  • Yay:

We got our new dining room table last night and I love it! Andy picked it out, so I never actually got to see it before last night.

I'm having QT with my dad on Saturday. His work week is Wednesday to Sunday so I never see him on the weekends.

My raise should be effective in next week's paycheck.

I'm making baked shrimp scampi for dinner.

    Boo:

Its supposed to snow today and tomorrow. It is APRIL people. APRIL. and SPRING.

I have to miss meeting Nooner because of a bridal shower that I dont want to go to.

ETA: We owe too DD. I agree with Kristen you should check into your withholdings. Apparently they changed the withholding schedule last year. Some people actually get 0% withheld now because they make so little per pay...which is ridiculous because they still owe taxes and if they dont make enough on a weekly basis what makes the government think they will be able to pay a lump sum at the end of the year?

  • Yay:  Sami is rolling over like a pro, now has two teeth, and is putting herself to sleep at night!

Boo:  It's supposed to snow tomorrow, and my boss needs me to courier a package down to Barnstable on the Cape for a closing... on my day ofr ...with a baby in tow.

Another Yay:  I'll get a whole day's pay for my troubles!

  • Yay: We leave for a weekend in Omaha tomorrow

Boo: I was really excited to go to Florida but we decided to stay closer and go this fall instead

Semi Boo: I feel bad leaving Layla behind. I will probably be a crazy puppy mom and call to check in every hour to see how she is doing.

  • Yay: My parents are coming to visit this weekend!

Yay: I'm taking my puppies to pictures with the Easter bunny on Saturday!!

Boo: I have to clean to get ready for my parents to visit.

Boo: I have a teacher out and I don't know when she's coming back so we are understaffed for awhile.

  • Yay:

    - D really wanted a new computer, and I think my grandfather is going to gift us one.  The joys of coming from a family of computer geeks with extra computers always lying around.

    - It is almost April, which means bonus $ and hopefully new job info for D!

    Boo:

    - We also owe more than a month's rent in taxes.  Ugh.  I've been putting it off, but I'll have to pay it this month.  That's where a chunk of my bonus $ will be going, which was supposed to be our vacation money.

    - I left my wedding and engagement rings in a bathroom at NY Penn Station on Friday.  I was really hoping that somehow they would turn up...but it's Thursday, and nothing, so this means they are really, really gone...I've cried about this at least once every day since I lost them.  Every time I look at my left hand I get nauseous thinking about my rings sitting in a pawn shop or on somebody else's hand.  I know they are just material objects, but they were mine, they represented so much, and D worked so hard to get me what I wanted.  :(

  • Yay: Tomorrow is Friday.

The baby is doing well, and I'm sooooo excited to get to my 2nd tri and have a real belly:D

Boo: Getting dressed everyday is a constant freaking battle. Most of my pants and skirts don't fit anymore and most maternity bottoms are still a little too big - not to mention I don't want to invest in too many work clothes since I'm not going to be working through the whole pregnancy.

The weather. I'm sick of the freezing cold and rain!

  • im so sorry dbucks :(

  • Yay:

    I'm not jet lagged.

My desk is almost set up from the move.

    Boo:

I caught a cold yesterday on my way home.  Someone in front of me was coughing like mad and though I tried to breathe through my shirt I was congested by the time I got home.  That turned into full on cold by bed time.

The last thing to do on my desk is to install my second monitor arm, and it was broken in the move.  The piece is on order, but until it comes in, I have a giant fallen monitor arm draped next to my desk.

Omg Amanda:( I'm soooo sorry about your rings! I would be crying too.

  • Yay!

My hair has been great all week. I'm really happy with the length and the curls that I've managed to make with my flatiron.

I picked up Mad Men season four and will probably watch it tonight.

My pastor got back from Africa, and gave a message last night. I just am really thankful to have such an amazing church family. Our services and the people there are like family. Some of the teens are coming over tomorrow for a hang out sleep over. I'm pretty psyched.

Anwar and I have had some really great bedtime fun lately. :)

    Boo!

I'm presented some accounts for closure today. I already did this request, and the person in charge of it normally could have made the adjustments easily, but brought it back for me to add a few more accounts. The customer's will just appeal the closure and the one account that I presented originally will be the only one closed. So, it is just a big ol' waste of time.

    Yay!-

Sonogram today!  I hope this tiny human doesn't have two heads (but I promise to love it if it does! Just maybe not take it out in public as much....)

    Tomorrow's Friday!

I am eating little powdered donuts for breakfast.

I leave for Nashville in a week!!!!

    Boo:

I'm only eating donuts because its the only thing that I can force down....I'm sooooo nauseated.

I think I spelled nauseated wrong.

Man, I wish donuts were the only thing I could keep down right now!

And my go-to was Cheerios... anything else and I was miserable.

    Boo: Tomorrow? I diet.
  • Yay!: -Idina concert today and red robin for lunch :D

-got a belly band for my super tight jeans so I can wear them for a month or two more.

-we go back to work next thursday!

Boo: -I have to wait 2 more weeks for an u/s

-m/s might finally be setting in, I've been fighting it like a Viking so far... But it's getting harder to eat anything I want.

-we go back to work next Thursday... Lol

  •  dbucks - I'm sorry to hear about your rings!

    Yay:

    - loving my new car and got to drive it to work today!

    - even though I have a lot of work to do, I may actually get to do some of them at home

    - although we owe on federal (see below), our state refunds gave us enough to cover that plus have $600 extra.

    Boo:

    - we also owed taxes, about $1400 so we've adjusted our witholdings using the IRS calculator (http://www.irs.gov/individuals/article/0,,id=96196,00.html).

     - this weather sucks, it's so freaking cold!

  • Yay-

I got a new coffee creamer that doesn't taste like a$$

several people commented on Phoenix's gums and it looks like she should cut at least one tooth within a week

    I got paid today

    Boo-

since Phoenix is so close to cutting, she's feeling the full throngs of teething, so not fun

She was up and ready for fun at 6:30...I however was not, and am now super sleepy

  • Dbucks- so sorry about your rings. I'd be crying too.

For the ladies asking about withholdings- I have been filing married and Robin as single. We knew we didn't need to both be filing married, but we thought we'd still be in the clear with one single, one married. Not so much. Sad So, we're going to have to switch back to both filing single, which means my check will be about $200 less each month. Sucks. Last year, we got a $9000 refund, because we bought a house and got married. In the past, I've always gotten a pretty good refund because of tuition. This oweing money is for the birds.

  • Oh dbucks, I am SO sorry about your rings.  That would break my heart.  Materialistic or not, our rings have a lot of meaning and the naked finger feeling just sucks.  I'm assuming you tried calling and everything to see if they were turned in.  That really sucks.

DD, we owe about the same amount in taxes, after getting a huge refund last year, and it definitely stings! We owe for a stupid reason too: I was claiming "1" and Craig was claiming "2."  So I got claimed twice.  Oops.  For someone as financially brainy as he is, I have no idea why he claimed me when I was already claiming myself.  I'm not sure he knows either.  For next year though, he won't be changing that, since he'll be claiming the baby.

    YAY:

-My FFn test (the one predicting whether I'll go into labor in 2 weeks) was negative, so this baby should stay in til at least 33 weeks and then we'll reevaluate.

-Our baby furniture finally comes tonight.

    BOO:

-The right side of my upper back is killing me.

-My bladder is completely squished and I have to pee even if I went 10 seconds ago.

    -I'm beyond exhausted.

  • Dbucks, I'm really sorry about your rings!  I would be feeling the same exact way.

Memily, enjoy the Idina concert.  I saw her last summer, and she was so great and so much fun to watch.

    My boo's:

I'm going to the eye doctor today and hoping that my vision problems are strictly pregnancy hormones related and it's not permanent.  I have a good feeling about it but I still worry.

Last night after Dan and I had sex, I thought my water broke.  And worse yet, I started having lots of BH's.  I didn't want to over react, so I drank lots of water and just relaxed and tried to go to sleep... within the hour everything was back to normal.  But I don't think we're having sex for awhile. Annndd... I wasn't even nervous about laboring or her being born a little early... but nervous that she would be too small to fit in her coming home outfit <<<Really, Natalie???.... Where are my priorities?????>>>

    My Semi- boo's:

I have to go to this family dinner with Dan's family which means I have to tolerate being around Dan's mom.  I'm trying so hard to not be annoyed about it but these hormones are making it harder.  And she needs to not touch my belly without asking. And tell me that I better call her *as soon as I go into labor*. I'm done with it.

    My yay's:

I get to see my family this weekend.

We have everything ready for Evie, she just needs to be born!

Yea, there is a case report and they have like five different phone numbers where I can be reached if they turn up.  Sigh.

I've debated looking up the numbers for a few pawn shops near the train station to see if anybody has taken them there, but I'm not sure how fruitful that would be.

its worth a shot and if you dont do it you will forever wonder if you could have found them. do it, even if it yields nothing it will make you feel better for having at least gone the extra step.

  • Yup it sure is! She was amazing last night! She would tell a story before a song and sometimes she would get distracted and forget what she was saying, she was so muh fun to watch. We even got an autograph- she is really short in real life. Even on stage she looked tall, but she's like 5'3"... Blew my mind. She sang beautifully as always.
