I know a lot of us are getting ready to run a race this spring or summer. So, I thought it would be fun to see when everyone has their first race and how everyone is doing.

Re: Runner's Check In Poll!
Your Race and Date of Race: I am running the Race for The Cure, June 11th. I am running in honor of my mom
(Anyone doing more than 1??) None planned yet.
What is the distance? It's a 5k
Any Fun Facts or Questions? This is my first race ever! DH has been running with me and will probably run the race with me. I'm pretty excited!Your Race and Date of Race: I am running the Breeze Against the Wheeze that raises money for an Asthma camp that is put on by one of the area colleges. The race is May 7
(Anyone doing more than 1??) None planned yet but I want to
What is the distance? It's a 5k
Any Fun Facts or Questions? This is my first race ever too!! DH is signed up to run it with me as well - it's also his first race
DH and I are planning to run the "Island 2 Island" 5K (there's also a half marathon) in Ocean City, MD- our beach.
Date: April 30, 2011.
Fun Fact: we're going with a bunch of friends, and we're taking Mason. My best friend and her H are also bringing their "golden doodle", Jack who is 2. We're planning on taking the pups a few towns over for the Dewey Beach Doodle Romp later in the morning. It's basically a big get together for "doodles" in the DelMarVa/PA/NJ areas where they all play on the beach and romp in the water. Should be fun and very sandy and messy!
It definitely will!! That's what we did. Training is going pretty good. I have my first 20 minute straight run tomorrow - SCARY!!! I'm wicked nervous for it - I think just seeing it on the schedule freaks me out cause I don't want to fail.
I agree! When you sign up and tell people you are going to run a race, it's like, "Oh, now I have to."
Very motivational.
Lauren, that's exciting that you have a full 20 minutes coming up! I bet you will be fine. When I know I'm running longer distances, I always try to focus on regular breathing. Let us know how it goes!
DH and I ran last night. I *tried* to do some interval training, but since I'm not very far along yet, some of my intervals are still walking. One interval we pushed it though, and it felt great to make it to our mark! (We run to things like stoplight to stop sign, haha)
