i have a lot of thinking to do!

So, if you saw on fb last night, we're having another girl!  Totally shocked, I was convinced it was a boy.

Anyway, we're delighted about the idea of sisters and I know I will be calling on many of the dynamic duo moms on this board for advice in the next few months and years!  I never had a sister, so I have to admit, I feel a bit intimidated.

Because we were so convinced she was a boy, we've only lightly considered girls names.  I have a little list, but we've decided to each create a running list and wait until the "perfect" name comes along.  I would love any suggestions you all may have.  Some of my favorite names are little girls on this board!

Middle name will most likely be May, since it's my name with the letters switched around.  So far my list includes in no particular order:

Dorothea
Chloe
Piper
Zoe
Poppy
Lucy
Molly
Mya

Any thoughts?  Comments?  Suggestions?

Re: i have a lot of thinking to do!

  • Molly May sounds a little too goody for my taste (and you know I think you're a goody goody!!).  Mya May I don't think would work.  Again, my opinion.

I LOVE the name Piper.  LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!

And of course, congrats on your second little girl.  SO EXCITING!

Out of your list, my favorites are Chloe, Piper, Zoe, Lucy, and Molly.  Okay so I just realized that is most of your list!  Haha.  I really love Lucy though and think it is so cute and not common.  Congrats on having another girl!  So exciting!
  • My best friend's little one is Maya Jane.

I have another friend who's little one is Lucy Lemon. Seriously

And another who's Chloe and another who's Molly!

This is going to sound awful, but for some reason I always think of Molly as a dog's name. Just an association I have.

I've always loved Piper and Zoe.

Not a huge fan or Dorothea or Poppy.

    Names I'm loving right now:

Talia, Cole, Analise, Lydia, Olive, Morgan, Clementine, Margaret, Julia, Julianna.

  • I love Molly, but not with May --- I do like Molly Dorothea, though.

Of the rest, I like Piper May with Cassidy.

  • Oh I love the idea of using May since it has your name in it!!

My grandmother's name is Dorothy May so I sorta dig Dorothea :)

I also LOVE Molly and Lucy. Both names DH vetoed off my list.

Even though I think Zoe, Piper, and Poppy are cute, I tend to like classic names a little more.

Being a teacher doesn't make naming a baby any easier, does it?! lol

  • i also really like piper and lucy... lucy a little more because it's a less trendy/more classic, but piper is great too :)  and i love may as a middle name -- we almost used it for aliza (mae) but it was too southern for DH's tastes.  but i love that it's made up of the letters of your name!  i think something with an "m" sounds good with the alliteration -- i do like mya or maya may :)
  • from that list, i like lucy may the best.

i also like mya but since that is also the same letters as your name switched around, i'd probably choose a different middle name. mya may sounds weird to me.

my bff's daughter is named chloe and it has definitely become popular (which my bff is not pleased about)

Me too unfortunately.  It's such a cute name, but I can think of no fewer than 5 dogs named Molly that I've known.  It's sad when something like that can change the perception of a name.

  • Congratulations, Amy!! :) What wonderful news!

I have Dorothea and Lucy on my list, too.  :) I love May as a middle name.  I have a sister and we're BFFs now, despite some hiccups as we grew up (which I'm sure all sisters have had!).

  • not crazy about Dorothea or Poppy.  I like the rest of them.  I also like how Mya is a mixed spelling of your name, but you would need a different middle name.

i saw another poster suggest Margaret (Maggie) May.  Thats what my mom thinks I should have named Paige.  Her middle name is Maggie which is after DH's moms middle name Margaret.

I have always liked Chloe and Zoe and would use the dots about the O since my name has an accent on the E and i like that about my name.

  • For me, my big criteria when choosing a name is "How will it sound on a 35 year old."  There are a TON of super cutesy pie girl names, but ask yourself how she'll feel introducing herself to a client (or boss, or patient, or potential date) once she is no longer a little girl.

Hi there, my name is Poppy, and I'm going to be your defense attorney.... ;-)

  • LOVE Piper and of course I am partial to Zoe! (And Lily's middle name is Mae after my grandma!)
  • I think I like Mya with a different middle name. Or even Mya as the middle name.

I do like Maggie as pp suggested also.

    Chloe May

    Piper May

I also love the name Clementine. : )

  • I like Chloe, Lucy, Molly and Mya.

For some reason I am in love with the name Ruby.  That could be from watching to much Max & Ruby though.

  • I actually love Clementine too, but I think that would be a really tough sell on Brian.
  • I also LOVE the name Piper!  I don't like the double M of Molly May or Mya May.

  • I like Piper and Lucy with the middle name May...
  • So fun!

Lucy was Clara's runner up name, and if she has a sibling that will most likely be her name (unlike you, I can ONLY imagine having girls! ;))

I do also love Piper, Chloe, and Poppy.

Some other names I love- many of which have been rejected by Jesse (who asked HIM anyway?):

    Susannah

    Georgia

    Margot

    Fiona

    Norah

    Lydia

    Emeline

    Zinnia

    Mirabelle

  • Chloe and Piper are the only ones that I like with the MN May. So exciting for another girl. I always wished I had a sister!

Hi there, my name is Poppy, and I'm going to be your defense attorney.... ;-)

Ditto this.  We were envisioning our child as the President of the United states, when naming our children.  Mrs. President Poppy doesn't sound all that distinguished to me.  I like Molly but not with May as a middle.  and I like Lucy from your list.
  • Love Piper.  when I saw that name on list it just stuck out to me and I thought oooh, nice.  Chloe is nice with MN too.  I have a friend having a girl and she just tol dme they chose Molly. My first thought was a dogs name, as PPs mentioned amd I felt horrible thinking that. I immediately told her I know a few Mollys and how nice they all were, including teh beautiful dog I remember.  lol  I think Molly May sounds a littly funny together.  JMO though.  It is so hard to choose, I do have to say to make sure to look at the initials.  You don't want anything too bad from what you choose either.  oh, and I have to say I don't have any Pipers or Chloes in school...yet, so that helps with still liking those names, or if they are coming into the popular stages yet, whether on popular names lists or not (in this area at least). y friend and I were looking for her and it was weird how the popula r list had some unusual names eveb for RI, not we haven't seen them at all (yet).  GL deciding
