Baby names
DH's friend's BFF just had a baby. DH and I don't really like the couple. She is OK, but her husband is a pretentious douche. He is cocky and way too full of himself and just so annoying... Anyways, so they named their son: Marley Manning Brian.
I mean, none of my business, but seriously? I keep wondering, is it a dog's name, or just two last names (Bob Marley and Eli Manning). What's going on here? I am a strong believer in giving kids normal names... What do you think girls? What are your names? Whether you are planning, pregnant or waiting a few years, I am sure you have your favorites.
Mine are:
Girls - Emma, Alexis (calling her Lexi) and Cecilia (calling her CeCe)
Boys - Jordan, Charlie and Jonathan
Funny I even have girl names, since I am planning to have two boys, you know

People come up with some weird names, that's for sure. At an old job, one of my co-workers brought her grandson into work to show off. The parents named him Brett Michael Smith. There was no mention of the parents being super fans of Poison or anything. I laughed to myself about this poor kid's name.
I have many friends who are so desperate to name their children something unique and go as far as looking at name trends on the SSA website to make sure the name isn't in the top 1000 popular names. I understand halfway because I don't want my children to have super common names and go through school always being referred to by their last name. But at the same time, some unique names are just unfortunate and more like portmanteaus of other popular names.
My name list for girls is a bit more 'out there' than the boys name list. We want to get more creative with (potential) daughters and think the majority of today's parents have 'pansy-fied' boys by giving them weak names. We choose more traditional boys' names, regardless of current popularity.
Girls: Ferne, Libby, Daphne, and Vivienne - not unheard of names, but doubt there would be many duplicates through school.
Boys: Quinn, Tom (not Thomas, just Tom), Rhys, George, and Henry

We will probably stick with Italian names for our kids, as my husband's family is into their Italian heritage. Our names(or at least the nicknames that go along with them) are more popular right now that I had expected, but I have loved some of them for a long time, so I'm not ready to give them up.
Our top girl name is Lucia (Lucy) Kathleen. Kathleen was my mom's name.
Our top boy name is Carlo (Charlie) Stephen. My dad's name was Stephen Charles.
We also like Giuseppe (Joe for short) for a boys name. We have a hard time agreeing on other girl names
We don't really spend much time thinking about baby names, because we don't plan on having kids. That said, my dad's name was Mark and if I had a son I'd like to use Mark as either a first or middle name. I don't know about girl names, although for some reason I really like the name Pippa (like Kate Middleton's sister).
So I guess I can rest easy knowing that if we ever did end up with a kiddo, I've got some names in mind.

BOY- Jackson, Connor, Logan....but I was vetoed on Logan. It's fine cuz Jackson or Connor is my fav!

Thanks so much, yeah we have a long and somewhat tricky last name, and I want the kids to have a first name that is much shorter and easier to spell. "Mya" certainly fits the bill, plus I've always thought it was pretty. :-)
ETA: I just re-read your op, and love Jordan and Charlie together! For your the two boys you'll be having, of course!
DH and I aren't going to have kids, but it's probably a good thing because my name for girls would be Ernistene Kathleen and Neroli Jean. They are all names that have family meaning to me, and I'm a sucker for old names.
No boys names because boys are yuck.
DH's friends has a little girl called Tahnee. I am not a fan of names with a double E. I think it's a bit common....
Yeah, IMO Marley is more of a name for a dog, not a kid. But to each their own, I suppose.
DH and I don't plan on having kids for another 6-7 years, but have had several top baby names for years now. It all started when we were in college and one of DH's friends had a baby, and DH wasn't really a fan of the name they chose and he went on a rant about how he wants to make sure his kids, and I quote, "Don't get beat up everyday on the playground because we cursed them with a crappy name." Haha!
So here's our top picks.
Girls: Reese, Leigh, and Olivia. No matter what name we would choose, the middle name would be Ann, as it is both of our mothers' middle name. I used to love the name Bella, but if I named a kid Bell now, everybody would think of Twilight...
Boys: Shawn, Gavin, Cameron, and Kai. We'd probably used the middle name Robert because DH is the 3rd Robert Louis in his family (he HATES it), but he'd like to use Robert as a middle name.
I'm just interested, where did you get the name Kai from? Kai is the Maori word for food. In my travels I have heard of kids from other countries called Kai, but it's probably not a name we would use at home.
Ha, interesting to learn! I had no clue what it means. I actually met a guy named Kai when I was in London a couple years ago, and thought it was a really cool, unique name that sounded nice. He wasn't a native Brit, though.
LOL---this is exactly our favorite girl name for the same reasons! We are torn between shortening it to Lucy or Lulu. Hope our kids aren't in the same class!
this is so funny because i always think of baby names, even though we are not close to having kids. DH gets to pick the first boy name and then i get to pick the second one if we have 2 boys. i get to pick the first girl name and he gets to pick the 2nd one.
my girl name constantly changes, so in the running are: natalie, callie, vanessa, torianna, or julianna. rose would be the middle name. DH's girls name is melanie.
for a boy name i like jake vincent. DH's choice is brendan anthony... anthony works well for a middle name because its both our fathers' middle names.

That's funny with your middle names - I always wanted to give my kids my parents first names as middle names, since they will already have my husband's last name. Both of our father's are named John, so DH does not mind the idea. My mom's name is Leonarda (everyone calls her Lonia) and DH is not sure if we should name our kids after my mom. He says it's complicated.

I've had Alexia Bethany picked out since I was like, 14 (call her Lexia) (source for the username- a penname of mine Alexia Bethany Rein) and if we had another girl Cecilia because that was my dad's mom's mom.
If we have a boy Xavier Charles. I like Xavier, always have, and Charles is DH's uncle that passed away when he was a kid. Our parents don't really care for Xavier, but unintentionally Charles Xavier is Professor X from the X-Men. Lol
Oh, also, when SIL and her husband got pregnant they wanted to name their son Liam. SIL's overbearing and trouble causing MIL would hear none of it because Liam is too "ethnic" *rolls eyes* So they named him William.
SIL's MIL's other kid had a daugher, who they named Courage Ann... Makes me think of Courage the Cowardly Dog
Liam ethnic? I have a friend whose name is William and everyone has always called him Liam. I thought it was a common Irish way to call their Williams.
