What do you think of this doll? A doll that little girls can "breast feed?"

I don't think there's anything wrong with it, and I specifically despise those critics who say it sexualizes young girls. Our breasts are made to feed our young. We need more education and information about breastfeeding out there - not less, IMHO. I do think you're likely to get more supportive responses on the bump board, for example though. Reading their responses when this first came up there awhile back really influenced me. Also, anyone who has nursed a baby with a toddler around has probably seen their toddler mimic the action anyway. It's normal for for children to do with their dolls as their moms are doing with their younger siblings. Is that perverse if they are mimicking mom? Now, would I buy the doll specifically meant to breastfeed? Eh, I don't know. But I don't think there's anything truly wrong with this doll being available when there have been "real poop & pee" dolls out on the market for years and years.

Every time you turn your head someone is ranting that something sexualizes young girls, yet it seems to me that the person making the accusation is the one whose mind is in the gutter. Little girls aren't thinking like that. Breastfeeding is a natural act, not a pervy one. *eye roll*

I don't see how it forces them to grow up too quickly. It's a toy a child can voluntarily play with however they choose, not a mandated activity. I assume parents would buy it because the child wants it, and the child would play with it if they feel like it. Girls liking dolls is old news and I don't see how this one is all that different. Especially not from dolls that do other "real" things like require food or need to be changed. I assume the child doesn't have to use the breastfeeding function if they don't want to, and if they do what is the worst that happens? They learn about a realistic child-rearing activity while they play. Oh dear.

I don't know how to feel about it. At first I thought, 'Whoa! that's inappropriate!' But then I thought about all of the dolls I had that were babies and I wasn't over sexualized. They didn't breast feed but they were still baby dolls in which a little girl would play "mommy." Personally, I don't think I would buy one for my young daughter (if I had one) but I wouldn't pass judgement on someone who did.

I think the bra is completely unnecessary and rather silly. Little girls (and even boys) who see their moms BF their siblings automatically do that with their dolls. People who are offended by feeding babies the way nature intended them to be fed are hard for me to understand.

Great, another non-controversy.

Breastfeeding isn't sexual or perverse. People who think so need to get their heads out of their asses. Dolls that simulate breast feeding are no more "dangerous" than dolls that simulate bottle feeding. If you have a problem with young girls playing mommy in general, that's a separate issue (and good luck to you getting them to stop because, as pp's have pointed out, it's pretty normal for little girls to mimic what they see moms or other grown up women doing.)

I was going to come back and mention bottle feeding! It's okay for girls to feed their baby dolls bottles but not immitate bf-ing why? I don't get it.

I don't know about the bra but I don't think there's anything wrong with the idea of little girls breastfeeding their dolls. Like others have said, any kid that sees their Mom or another adult BFing is bound to do it with their dolls anyways. I really hate the discomfort around BFing and people trying to make it sexual at all, so I don't see how this is making young girls more sexual.

I would way rather see some serious conversation in the media about little girls wanting to wear thong underwear Indifferent (I had a customer mention their 5 y/o grand daughter requesting them)

I never had a bottle as a baby. I went straight from the boob to a cup. I remember pretending to breastfeed my baby dolls as opposed to feeding them a bottle.

maybe the real problem is that it desexualizes boobies.....like how naming the fish you just caught makes it taste worse than the other, non-named fish on the plate.

IMO boys have annoying toys. Especially all the Beyblades, Nerf Guns, Bakugan etc. DD's toys are much more imaginative IMO.

It reminds me of the peeing/pooping dolls. Just another doll to mimic real life. I don't think it's a bad thing, just something I wouldn't want to shell out money for. I wouldn't get my DD a bathroom doll either. I feel imagination is enough. And my DD did bf her dolls when I had my DS. She was 2.5 years old and would copy everything I did. I thought it was cute.
