WTF?! Already?

So as you all know we've took the binky away from JJ on Monday night.  He's been ok at night, each night is gradually better.  But nap time is fading away!  AHHHHH!  He's been in his crib for 30 mins calling for me and crying off and on.  I'm really not ready for him to stop napping :(  Yesterday at day care, it took him 30 mins to fall asleep as well (but he never cried for them) and he only slept for 50 mins.  I'm really not looking forward to this but he was becoming very dependent on the pacifier.

Grrrr!  Thanks for letting me vent!

Re: WTF?! Already?

  • D was around the same age when she stopped napping too.

Don't feel bad leaving him in the crib for quiet time - it will save your sanity!!!

  • That's exactly what I was thinking.  Just give him some quiet time.  I think he finally just fell asleep after 50 mins.  ugh
  • Stick with it, it's probably a phase. Ben has gone through 2 or 3 times where I thought he was giving up naps, but he's right back at it after a week or so. I think it just comes and goes a bit as they get older. Ben will get quiet time every day until he's at least 4 no matter whether he sleeps or not - they need the unwinding time and mama needs to breathe ;-)

I agree with this; DS had a few random weeks of not napping, but he is 3 yrs 3 months and still takes a nice, 2-3 hour long nap.  Even when he went through the no-nap stage, he still had quiet time (sort of!  he would often sing/play up there) in his bed.

  • my bff's five year old still has naptime most weekends. she doesn't have to sleep (and often doesn't anymore) but she is required to have quiet time in her room for at least an hour or two. it is a sanity saver for mom, dad, and kiddo. hope this is just a brief phase for JJ!
