Takeover? But I was happy!!
I work at a Community Bank and my coworkers and I found out this morning we are being bought out by another HUGE bank. Not to mention ALL Fox News can talk about today is stupid Community Bank's failing...really; get off of it already! We are unsure of what is going to happen from here...how long it will take...and what we should try to do next! Not to mention FI and I just bought a house this past July! Argh; stupid economy! I need to feel safe in my little office again!!
*Vent Over* Thanks for reading/listening!

That sad part is that I was offered a job within the past month that I turned down because I felt "safe" in the position and place that I am in...Well up until today when they threw this at me! They have not definitely said they are cutting positions yet but common sense tells you they will have to somewhere! I have already started looking for something just in case it is necessary but there is nothing within my area. I just feel very lost right now especially having bought our house and just getting "settled".
I'm sorry that you have already had to go through this. I know it must be devastating. Have you been able to find anything else?
Oh yeah, it was forever ago (2000 to be exact). My dream job came to a screeching halt when my company was bought. They were going to move all of their people to our site, but then changed their minds and said they'd close our site in a year and figure out what to do with everyone. This after 10% of the staff was laid off.
I ended up sticking it out for the year because the severance was amazing. Then I got a new job, where I met DH.
It was nervewracking at first. No one knew what was going to happen. I had just bought a house, and was the sole income earner (I was single at the time). My boss was desperately trying to keep her remaining reports employed, and it was really stressful for about 4 months. Then it got better once things started shaking out.

I survived a takeover and 5 rounds of layoffs at my first company out of college. It was definitely stressful. I ended up leaving on my own shortly after the takeover was final because I was moving to be with DH.
Good luck!!
