I just got back from the dentist...and although my cleaning went fine (no cavities!), they were very concerned about my high blood pressure. I told them I get very nervous/anxiety when I come to the dentist, I cant help it (but since I started going to this new dentist, I love them!).
My BP was 139/102, and she took it a second time before I left and it was even higher 144/99. They were very concerned, thinking I might have other health problems, asked if I have had any testing done in the past (I have) and scared me out of exercising too hard (bc I could have a heart attack).
Im calling tomorrow to get an appt with my PCP, to get it checked out. He just doubled my medication for it in Oct. And, the last few days I have been feeling dizzy and a light headache. Im scared right now, they have me thinking something is really wrong with me. Send me your best vibes and prayers please.

My BP is always high when I go to the dentist...I hope it's just nerves. They really scared me though, and made a big deal about it (that I was too young for it to be that high). IDK. We'll see.
I def have the white coat syndrome. Anytime I go to the dr my BP is always high. I get some anxious and nervous. I know when I was going for my lump I went to the same dr and she really made me feel better. I did not have to go to the triage room and the dr was in there talking to me while they took my BP. That seemed to help so much.
Good luck and I completely understand what you are going through it is scary to know your BP can get so high.
Let me know what your dr. says. They may make you keep a log of your BP throughout the day if you tell them that you get nervous going to the doctors office.
Thanks Carmen for your calming words.
I will update after I go.
Hopefully it is just at the doctors office that it happens. When I went to doctors my BP was somewhat high and they did all the tests too. BP can be scary, but I hope it turns out to be nothing.
Like Carmen said they will probably make you take your BP in the morning and probably in the evening (DH had to do this). Keep us posted.
i'm glad they checked it! i've never had mine checked at the dentist and i've been to a ton.
i'm sure it was just nerves, but I'm glad you're getting checked out just in case!
Hopefully it was nothing but nerves.
And I have never had my bp checked at the dentist! I don't think they even have a cuff to do it.

Hope all is ok. Maybe it's just nerves. I know my dentist has to split my teeth cleaning into 2 sessions each time because I have such bad panic attacks over it =(
Keep us posted!
Im not on BC, never have been.
I have torn this house upside down this morning trying to look for our BP cuff and I cant find it. Im going to have to pick one up today.
The Dentist made me think I might have an underlying health issue that hasnt been addressed yet. I have been on HBP meds since 2009. It's weighing heavily that this might be the breaking point for me to finally find a new PCP.
I went to the Pharmacy today to possibly buy a new BP cuff, and was wanting to get the wrist version, but the Pharmacist told me they weren't very accurate. The wrist version is what my dentist used...so maybe I dont have too much to worry about.
The pharmacy didnt have a bloodpressure cuff to check your BP for free there or else I would have checked it! Im still hunting for my BP cuff thats lost at home.
Thanks everyone for your T&P. Will update eventually.
