I succumbed to the Princesses

Sigh.  Since I had a DD, I knew the day would come when she would be all over all the Disney princess gear.  DD has some generic dress-up princess stuff but so far we have avoided having the Disney princesses plastered all over everything we own.  It lasted almost 3 years.  Today while were were at Kohl's looking for sandals, DD saw these beauties -- silver with a pink glitter accent and Disney princesses on the top -- and these were the ones she really wanted.  And it gets better -- the princess patch on the toe and the flowers on the outside of the sole have red lights that flash when she walks.

I know I could have refused to buy them but since they're not illegal or immoral or even unaffordable, I figured it wouldn't hurt to let her have the shoes she really wants.  The girl has to develop her own sense of style sometime, right?  Even if it is tacky.  Wink

Re: I succumbed to the Princesses

  • Ben has an Elmo sweatsuit if it makes you feel any better :)
  • The sad part of this post is without clicking your link I knew what sandals you were talking about....

Brielle has said farewell to the Gabba's and a big hello to Disney Princesses. She has every one of them and insists upon carrying them everywhere. If you ask her to do something she doesn't want to she will reply with, "Well (insert random Princess name here) doesn't want to do that, so I'm not going to." Let me tell you I am ready for this whole princess phase to go, and quick! Resist it Kimberly...resist it!!

To top it off, I thought seeing my boss dressed as DJ Lance last year was troubling, this year she insisted on she and Brielle dressing up as Ariel, for Brielle's birthday. Only one of them had red hair and a mermaid costume...it wasn't the 3yr old either...Tongue Tied

    oof, that is disturbing.

Damn, the more of this kind of stuff I hear, the more I know that the Disney princesses are unavoidable.  Crap, I really want to avoid them. :P

    LMAO!

I'm planning to do a Very Hungry Caterpillar theme for Helen's third birthday.  No one is going to be dressed as a caterpillar!

    Hilarious yet slightly disturbing!

Had the Disney Princesses been around when I was Helen's age, I probably would have wanted those sandals too.

  • Mainely-did you see that Kohls has 4 of Eric Carle's books (and at one point they had the plush animals too).  I just got them and we have been reading them everynight, but the favorite is the Hungry Catepillar :)  Great theme.
  • There's something about Elmo and Disney Princess that's like crack!

  •  Welcome to the dark side, lol!!! My girls all went through a princess phase. (They seem to like Tinkerbell more now), Kailey even had a Disney Princess room.

It's just one of those things that go along with having girls. As long as they don't think they'll meet their prince at 16 years old, get married after knowing them for about 48 hours, and live happily ever after, I think she'll be ok :)

Enjoy the princess while you can, before you know it it will be Barbies, then crazy tween stuff like iCarly and Wizards of Waverly Place.

Oh yes!  I actually managed to get one of the plush caterpillars before they sold out.  I was a little bitter about the books though -- I paid $16 for a hardcover copy of the Very Hungry Caterpillar about a month before Kohl's came out with theirs!

  • Ugh, I was seriously hoping we could avoid this. MIL got her a beauty and the beast pal for Easter and it makes me want to gag LOL. That thing is disappearing soon :) I do like the old school Disney, Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, but I just can't stand it in overdoses.

  • I never understood why the lights in pink girls shoes have to be red. LEDs come in many colors, and to my knowledge cost no more than the red ones. DH has a whole color mixed bag of LEDs.

    Have you been?

My mom thought she would hate it. She loved it.
