Hey Ladies,

Have any of you had to create a unit using backwards design? Apparently I have to do this for my portfolio. Lame.

Yup. I actually like the idea behind it, but hate when I have to do anything super formal anyway.

Do you have a copy of Understanding By Design? I think mine is at school for the weekend, but if you need it, let me know and I can try to send it! (I haven't even opened it in years...)

I probably won't be much help because this is pretty much how I naturally do all my planning. It makes the most sense to me to figure out what my cumulative activity is and the figure out which skills I need to teach to get there after.

I like it, but I don't like having to create a whole unit just for this portfolio using these official forms. Oh well I just finished I think I thought it would be harder than it was. Thanks ladies.

This...backwards design is actually how I think when I'm planning, I just hate the official forms. But then, I despise writing formal lesson plans too. I prefer my personal shorthand on the calendar approach.... Smile
