So, ya know how I said I wanted to take a baseball bat to something because of some frustration and stress??
Well, it wasn't a baseball bat and it wasn't me, but this evening DH got to kick down (in, really) our front door!!
Long story short - - Our front and only door lock decided that it was not going to UNlock. Two hours, six bent and broken keys, and 2 calls to locksmiths later, DH kicked the door in!!
The door itself is fine (metal beast that it is), and the frame is in surprisingly good shape - it probably can be fixed with a little bit of wood glue. Plus - we didn't have to pay the $125 or more to the locksmith for an emergency service visit - which is just robbery to me!
Now I can say that my husband has kicked down a door for me!! He's pretty proud of himself - although after seeing the damage to the door frame he quickly admitted it probably wasn't the best idea in the world. Oh well, what can ya do now?
Talk about the universe pulling a twisted April Fool's joke . . .
Re: (*&@#$@#&$!!!! Update
What an exhausting ordeal!! I've had days like that - and they are so paralyzing. When the stress/anxiety/frustrations just take control and you are completely unable to act like a 'normal' adult... ugh. Worst.feeling.ever.
I hope today goes a million times better!!

Thanks!
So far today is pretty mundane and blah, but it is a Friday so that automatically makes it 100x better than yesterday!
DH just called and said the locksmith had arrived and changed the locked in less than 30 minutes - and charged us $200 for the service. Ugh. We probably could have done it ourselves for $50 . . . but the original lock was different/odd and we didn't know how a new lock would fit in the holes already there, so I guess it is better that a professional did it. And really, $200 fo the knowledge that we won't have to worry about breaking keys and getting locked out anymore really isn't too bad.
Unfortunately, the locksmith didn't ask us our preference in locks or metals and installed a brass lock. Ick. Not my taste at all. Plus we have to repaint the door as he didn't put on the type of casing/plate that I was told we would need to cover where the old casing had been. Grrrr.
I must keep telling myself it is just a lock and not worth the fuss . . . .
