Another question for BFing mommas

Since I am just about 2 months from my due date (by the way how did that happen) I am beginning to think about nursing bras. I would love to hear what your favorite brands are and what is a good timeline for getting them?

Re: Another question for BFing mommas

  • THESE are the ONLY ones I'd suggest I had a few others but these are amazing, they actually (and really do unless you have a really heavy amount of leaking and mine was pretty decent) just evaporate and dry out and hence no leaking!

I got the underwire ones but that was after my supply had regulated/boobs were a steady size

I'd say whatever you are now during pregnancy is a good gauge for the beginning, now I'm wearing the size I wore before pregnancy even though we are still nursing

They fit pretty true to size

  • oh as far as timeline I already talked about the sizing so you can go off of that, but for the first few weeks I'd get some cheapies from target (nursing tanks especially) and then a few real easy soft cup ones  that come down easy.

Then once you are established/not engorged/ a normal steady size then order them ;)

  • My best friend swears by this one-- http://www.isisforwomen.com/henna-day-bra.html and won't stop talking about it. She said it's the most comfortable bra she's ever worn (it's not a nursing bra but works great for it).

  • I also had the same bras that Christina recommended (on her recommendation!), but they didn't last long for me.  I'm a D cup while nursing and I also got the underwire ones, but the underwires actually came out and poked my armpits after just a month or so.  BOO!  They really do keep leaks in, though.  I might try them again for my next pregnancy, but get the wireless ones.

I liked Motherhood Maternity bras the best.  These with underwires. And I like these sleep bras.  I'm still wearing them now! My second choice was Target's Gilligan O'Malley wireless bras and nursing tanks.

I started wearing nursing bras at 5 months when I outgrew my regular ones and wore them throughout pregnancy and M's first year (and even now).  I wore sleep bras starting around 5 months b/c if I didn't, I'd leak.

Strange! i've been wearing my underwires for over a year and no issues here!

Did you wash them by hand?
