So yesterday my mom calls me and tells me she is not happy to be working because the roof of the clinic she was working at is leaking horribly. And she was worried about falling (can't say I blame her). Our boss doesn't care. Apparently it has been leaking for years and the company refuses to do anything about it (I'm tempted to make an annonymous call to OSHA). So, at about 330 mom calls me back and starts the conversation off "I don't want you to worry" so of course I'm going to worry. She was having chest pain and had been for the past 30 min.
I told her to have them call EMS and I would meet her at the hospital. I called the MA who was working and is a friend of mine and told him to call me when EMS leaves with her.
At around 5 I finally was able to see her. She looked good and said she was feeling good. I stayed with her for about an hour before she kicked me out of her room and told me to go home. I told her to call me as soon as she knew anything. They had just given her nitro and morphine before I left. So I was a little worried that she would go into her loopy alter ego who can't form words, thinks JFK is president, and thinks it is 1930 (my mom wasn't even born yet, hell my grandparents weren't even born yet)! But that didn't happen.
They kept her over night for tests and observation. Everything came back great. They told her she had all the classic symptoms of a heart attack but are not saying she had one because all tests were perfect. She was warned though that if it happens again she will have to have heart catheterization. And now she will be carrying baby asprin with her everywhere she goes.
So today I've been running around getting errands done for Declinn's birthday party tomorrow and taking care of my mom's animals. I also went and took all the stuff that she bought to make pasta salad, potato salad and cole slaw. I told her she wasn't allowed to do any of that.
Now, I am heading to pick her up from the hospital and take her home. I'm just glad everything is ok. I am terrified of loosing my mother early. She is the only parent I have ever had and holds our family together.
Sorry so long, and if you made it through, thanks!
