crafty ladies-- repurpose mattress pad?

I have at least one old mattress pad that I want to repurpose... what can I do with them? Could I make them into burb cloths? Other ideas?

Re: crafty ladies-- repurpose mattress pad?

  • I wonder if you could make a diaper cover out of it if it's a waterproof one?  It would be good for a potty training toddler to cover seat cushions.

  • What size mattress pad?  The only thing I can think of would be to cut it down to a crib size pad.  I wouldn't use it for a burp cloth if it's the kind with polyester in the middle or a waterproof lining -- you want burp clothes to be cotton so they absorb the spit up.

Ha, we have one already... MainelyFoolish- it's a queen mattress pad, not waterproof.

  • I was thinking along the lines of Maeghan-- batting over a cork board and then covered by fabric to make a pretty message board?

  • I had bought the Organic Quilted Crib Mattress Pad from ababy.com. I reused it with my second kid. After both of them had outgrown it, I used the organic cotton side of it for the tiny puppies that our Daisy gave! The other side in polyester was used as a cushion for the small stools we have in our garden. Something creative, I bet!
