FB vent

i get really irritated by people who post all the way thru events - if you are at disney, put your freakin phone away and just enjoy your family. post your photos at nite after the kids are tucked in. your friends at home do not need hourly updates.

or someone was at a wedding last night. i thought it was strange that she kept posting (bad) photos of the centerpieces, ice displays, etc.all night long - just enjoy the party!

am i the weird one here?

Re: FB vent

  • I know what you're saying.  That is annoying.  My sisters always tell me I'm terrible about taking pictures on vacation but I just say, I'm enjoying myself and taking in the experience and the memories.

I read somewhere that this generation is very self absorbed because many people think everyone else really cares and wants a play by play of their lives.

  • I'm not annoyed with it but it's one of the worst things you can do as far as self security. This let's people know you are not at home and the duration of you being away. It is one of the new prime ways of people targeting homes to rob. They don't have to be your friends they can get around the security features.

P.S I work in the identity fraud world so I am very jaded. I know I tend to be very overcautious.

  • Ditto. It's so rude. I attended a bridal shower where the guests were spending so much time posting, they weren't even paying attention to the bride- it was like she was talking to herself.  Then when I went home and read the posts, they made the event sound a million times better than it actually was. I'm reading my FB like "ughhh...was I at the same party?"

  • As far as vacations, I disagree. I like to see that my friends are having a great time. If they are having fun and want to show all of the fb world so be it. The week before I went on a cruise, we stayed in Miami and I posted pics and checked into places often. I was having a good time and if my friends didn't appreciate that or want to see it, they could (and quite possibly did) ignore what I posted. I didn't miss anything by spending 5 minutes (if it even was that long) here and there through out the day by fb'ing my events. As far as posting every 30 seconds throughout a wedding or shower....uh yeah that's a bit much.

  • Pffffffffft. In that case, you would roll your eyes so hard at me you'd break one. All I do is eat, shop and hang out with MiniMags and I subject everyone to every damn minute of it. LOL.
  • i knew not to friend you!

i was at the playground today. most parents had their eyes on their cells, not their kids. it was a little chilly, but beautiful out. i preferred to enjoy watching my kid love being out there. yes, i took a few photos with dh's iphone, but didn't do anything with them....yet.

I totally agree.  I would love to blurt out that I am going somewhere out of town but I don't want people to know I'm not at home.

THIS exactly!  When I finally get around to posting pics, everyone always asks when I went because I never say when I'm away!

I AM FUN, DAMMIT. Why should I watch my kid? There's an app for that. LMAO.
  • it's a best selling app, right?! lol!
  • I so know what you mean. I have seen some brides post throughout their honeymoons! As you can tell, I wasn't on AT ALL during my honeymoon. Sorry everyone, but you are not going to be updated on what me and my hubby are doing on our days of our honeymoon. I find it strange. His mom started getting worried because we weren't texting back. Like hello! We want to be left alone! haha.
