Re: what are you looking forward to this week?

  • all I want right now is cake, so I think I might be looking forward to obtaining a cupcake or two sometime this week.  Nom.

Other than THAT... I got nothing much else.

Saturday I'm getting my eyes checked so I can get new glasses for the first time in 4 years - YAY!  Then it's Sami's 6 month photos and an April birthday celebration for the family since 3 of us - my mom, my sister, and myself - all have birthdays in April, and the end of the month is bound to get busy.

  • Usual busy work week. But we are going to Newport for the weekend, and I can't wait. Our first getaway in a long, long time. We'll have dinner at the restaurant we got engaged at and just relax and drink.
  • Today I have kicked off my new commitment to getting healthy.

Tomorrow Neuner comes and stays the night.

Saturday (at noon, at Jaleo) is the Niner GTG.

  • Tuesday we're going out to dinner with friends that are in town, so that should be fun, we haven't seen them in a while.

Then this weekend I'd like to roadtrip somewhere. I don't know where yet.

  • Honestly, the only thing I am looking forward to is hopefully having a kid at some point this week!

My mom flies into town on Wednesday.

And I think tomorrow might be my last day at work even if the kid is still not out.

Yes I won't screw that up again Wink

I have a gyno appointment for my annual pap which I don't normally look forward to but I'm excited since I'll be talking about TTC and if I need to switch medications and whatnot.

Other than those two things, not much other than looking forward to the weekend as usual.

I'm sorry to hear that Stees but I will send lots of prayers to Nana for staying strong and getting healthy...

I am looking forward to trying out my new Shape Ups and walking every day after work with LO to get in better shape.  I am hoping to do some karaoke this weekend too if my sitter pulls through!

  • Not much here. It's payday on Friday and it's commission check week, so money is good. But, if all goes as planned, I'm working this weekend. Yay for FINALLY getting an upgraded computer (bye bye Mac OS 9.2, hello Windows 7!) but boooo for having to work the entire weekend getting it set up.

H and I just spent the weekend in Newport, and it was fabulous!  We did some of the mansions (I had never been inside) walked around, and had ourselves our own little bar crawl.  It was awesome...hope you guys have a blast, you deserve it!

Not much this week, dinner with some college friends on Wednesday, and hopefully getting through the first 5 day work week in a while.

Awesome! Where'd you stay? I love Newport. Hoping to hit the irish pub for lunch, and maybe do the Cliff Walk again, depends on the weather. Probably just walk around Thames and hang out at the hotel pool.

Have you ever taken that train? We did that a few years ago and it was really cool. It has these hundred-year-old cars and it heads out along the bay, you can see the Navy ships and some oyster farms. Nice scenery and something different to do.

One of these days, we actually have to get there when the weather is nicer. But the prices jump so much with the weather, off-season is all we can comfortably afford.

  • I'm going to CT to volunteer on Wednesday, then heading straight from the museum up to NH and I'll be back on Friday. Before then I need to cook up a bunch of stuff (use produce before it gets too old, etc), get an oil change, and do a lot of homework for my class.

And do some soul searching on my jobless situation- the job offer I got in January apparently is no more. I emailed the woman to tell her I'd almost reached my decision, just was waiting to hear back from my march 3rd interview and she was like, "oh I hadn't heard so I assumed you weren't interested. I offered the spot to someone else a few weeks ago so I'll let you know if they say no." Awesome. So her telling me she was fine waiting until mid-late April for an answer from me was what, exactly?

On the plus side, I heard through the grapevine that my former boss is very poorly thought of at the university, so it makes me less afraid to apply to some labs there, like if she started bad mouthing me maybe the people I interview with wouldn't really listen to her. Or maybe they wouldn't automatically think I'm a loser because I left her lab.

I did Priceline, name your own price, and we ended up at the Newport Beach Hotel and Suites (it rhymes!).  It is technically in Middletown, right over the line, near Easton's beach.  We got it for $100 a night, I really thought I could get something cheaper though.  Anyway, it was nice, they have an indoor hot tub and pool with lots of windows overlooking a pond area.  We walked on the beach and did some of the Cliff walk...it was relatively warm, just windy, but if you bundle up you'll be fine.

I've never done the train, and forgot about it until we were heading out of town.  I'll have to check that out.  On Sunday we also took a drive out on Ocean Drive, which was beautiful.  Those houses are jaw-dropping.

I haven't been to Newport that often, but honestly, it is kind of one of those places that is almost better off season.  In the heat of the summer it gets sooo crowded...this weekend was actually pretty busy, but not overwhelmly so.  Kind of like the Cape in September;)

  • What is NOT to look forward to this week?!  It's myself-proclaimed Spring Break!

Today: staying in my pjs and vegging out all day, meeting a friend for happy hour.  Packing at some point.

Tomorrow: Flying to DC!!! Crashing with Mary, haing dinner with her and her H (couldn't TELL you the last time someone cooked for me!)

Wednesday: lunch with a college friend, then taking the train to Richmond to hang out with my bestest guy friend.  Debauchery will surely ensue.  It always does.

Thursday: more debauchery in Richmond, then train back to Arlington.  Catching up with Mary again, picking H up from the airport, finding our hotel.

Friday: Praying for no rain.  Hopefully lots of sight seeing with H

Saturday: lunch with my DC Niners!!!!  Probably more sightseeing, more praying for no rain.

Sunday: still more signtseeing.  more praying for no rain.

I'm so freaking excited for this week I can't even stand it.

  • I'm feeling really glum today so I'm not really looking forward to anything. DH is going out of town today and gets back Saturday, so I'm looking forward to him being home, but that's really about it.
