Terrible 2's

Does anyone have any suggestions for discipline?  Bella has a horrible temper and when I put her in time out and sit in front of her she kicks, screams, pinches, bites.

Talking to her in a stern voice and swatting her on the butt doesn't seem to work either and I'm at my wits end with her.

  • I'm not a Mom, but I fail to see how hitting her for hitting you is going to teach her anything. It seems you are directly teaching her the disrespect that you are disciplining her for.

Have you tried 123 Magic? I've heard very good things about it.

ETA - if you watch the show Supernanny, you are not supposed to be standing in front of her during timeout, or "holding" her into timeout. You are supposed to place her in timeout and leave her there. If she gets up, you drag her back and start the timeout over. Wash, rinse, repeat. On the show, sometimes it literally takes hours for the kid to finally give up and stay in timeout until the parent releases them, but usually at that point they "get it" and realize they have to stay.

  • Try posting this on the Atlanta Babies board. There are a lot more toddler moms over there.
