anyone dye their hair during pregnancy?

my color is growing out kind of strangely and i'm tempted to dye it. there seems to be mixed advice online. anyone ever use henna dye?

I didn't - I was too paranoid. I want to highlight my hair so bad, but am holding off until I'm done bfing because I'm crazy like that.

I do remember reading though in my Raising Baby Green book they said if you do it so have them just do a tiny bit away from your roots if possible to minimize absorbtion of any chemicals.

I think for dye though (vs. highlighting which for me would be essentially bleaching vs. dye) there are a lot of more natural alternatives. I read in my organic baby book to check out greenspanetwork.com - apparently they have a list of more ecofriendly spas, so maybe there's a hair salon in there. I keep meaning to do this, but haven't checked it out yet.

I did, my dr. said as long as I was out of the 1st trimester it was ok. I didn't do it as frequently as when I'm not pregnant but I did do it but only in a salon. I'm not sure I personally would trust do-it-yourself dyes. I've heard salon quality ones are safer but as long as my dr. thought it was ok I felt fine doing it.

me! highlights and dye . highlights are supposed to be safer because it does not actually touch your skin. but i did it once with each.

i used henna in highschool and had a bad reaction to it plus it did not work great.

I asked my OB, midwife and stylist and they all said it was ok after 12 weeks. I highlighted my hair twice while I was pregnant.

I did with both kids after 13 weeks. I couldn't take it anymore! I think I only colored once during each pregnancy but for sure I covered up those grays!

I did it 1x during each pregnancy. My Ob said it was safer to get highlights and she would prefer me to do that, but I had highlights that I just wanted to covered, so I did it after the 1st trimester.

My doctor told me after the first trimester I could highlight my hair since it's off the scalp. As a hairdresser and first time momma to be I am fine working with color all day long but do make sure to wear gloves. Ive made the decision not to color my hair (which I miss the most) since it's not something I NEED rather than a want. Something to keep in mind, sometimes a color can be off from what is expected when you are preganant because of your hotter body temp and hormones. Also, be careful with any henna dyes. Henna builds up on the hair and can have bad reactions when you go to do any chemical service after the fact such as a box color or perm.

Okay she texted me back! She uses a Demi permanent on my hair from the Redkin line because it is ammonia free and has super low amounts of peroxide. I still use this since I'm nursing and I figure it's better to be safe

I did die my hair throughout my pregnancy after the first trimester. My doctor and hairstylist turned nurse sister inlaw both said it was safe to do. *dye* not die...I did not kill my hair

i did like 3 weeks ago. my dr said it was fine. i also go dark so there is no bleach or chemicals to lighten.

It was always my understanding that after the first tri it was fine.
