FWIW, it doesn't remind me of a dog and I think Molly is really cute!
  • FWIW, I have a cousin named Molly. She is in high school, and never once do I think of a dog when I hear that name. Once you see a baby, whatever the name, any previous associations tend to get pushed to the wayside.

But, if it bothers you that people are thinking the name Molly is a dog's name, maybe you should keep working on your list. Perhaps both you and Brian could come up with a list, and swap. Each one will have the power to veto whatever names they want, no questions asked. There might be some surprise commonalities among the lists, too.

    Good luck!

  • i agree with alicia, once the baby is molly then anybody or anything that was molly before wont matter. there are so many animal names that i know ppl with the same ones. i like molly, its super cute and i think it goes well with cassidy.

  • Just like everyone else, I love Molly and it doesn't remind me of a dog :)  It's an adorable name!
  • Molly reminds me of the copper tone baby. LOL I don't know why but that's what I think of EVERY time I hear molly.
  • I like Molly and I don't think of a dog. I think of a Maille that I had in the first daycare - she was adorable.

  • I was one of the ones that said it reminded me of a dog.  But that's cuz I've never known a human Molly, only dogs.  With that being said though, my sister was specifically named after a dog, so that's completely normal in my book!  No joke!  I love the name.  It's very sweet.

  • I know 3 friends/acquaintances who have named their daughters Molly in the past year, so I think it's gaining in popularity.  If it reminded most people of a dog I highly doubt more & more folks would be using it.  It's your kid; you're the one carrying her for 9 months so in my mind you get the final say!

  • ONe of my friend's has a daughter named Molly and that is what I think of now.  Once a child has the name, you forget everything else with the same name.  The biggest problem is trying to name a child when you teach and every name you like, you have a student that you associate with it in good or bad ways
  • My neice is named Molly and I love it. I have never thought of it as a dog's name! Maybe it's from all my years teaching that I'm immune to that stuff...I try very hard to not associate a name to one type of person (or animal!) Ironically, when I was little we had a dog named Cassidy. I LOVE the name and when I see pics of your beautiful little girl I NEVER think of my dog! :)

  • I was one who said I knew a dog named Molly, she was a beaultifu sheep dog.  But I also said I know soe others girls named Molly as well.  I do not think of the dog when I see them.  lol  I think of the dog Molly when I see huge sheep dogd, which is not that often.  :-)  You choose whatever name you both like!
  • I almost used the name Molly for my youngest.  I wonder why people say it reminds them of a dog?  That's strange.  I don't get that at all.  I think it's cute.
