Yard work?

I know its depends on what part of the country you are in but when do you start working on your lawn and flower beds, if you have them?

I was planning on working on my front flower bed and maybe reseed the grass in the back yard tomorrow morning.  Except I just looked at the weather forecast. 58 degrees and rain/Tstorms. WTF mother nature?? Its supposed to be 76 today and mostly sunny. Of course I'm stuck at work. I guess Ill have to wait until next week.

Re: Yard work?

  • I started back in february. It's almost always hot down here. Sad

  • We will probably start watering the grass soon unless we get more snow, but normally we don't start mowing or seeding until May.  Flowers we usually don't plant till after Mother's Day since there is always a chance for snow in May.
  • i just went to home depot and bought mulch, soil, pansies, and hostas. I plan to plant the latter later today. i'm hoping they'll be okay since it's not getting really, really cold this week, just down to the 50's. i had only planned to buy mulch but i was lured by the flowers. i saw other people there buying them, and i asked one and they said they are pretty hardy (sp?). plus they were only $10 for 4, so if they don't last it's okay. but i think they will.

  • It is standard here to wait until after the last frost. When that is? Who knows. Every year it seems to be different. Right now, my daffodils are all in full bloom but it snowed the other day. They perked back up after the cold spell but I am pretty surprised they did.
  • We did ours and weed and feed 2 weeks ago but its different down here.  We had to get them in and watered because its not going to be so hot that would be the only way for them to sustain.

That exactly what I was going to do. My hostas are already popping up but I was going to plant some pansies too. Hopefully the weather will be better next week. I'm of Mon, Tue and Wed... watch it rain all three days.
