Mom/Daughter Trip

I'm looking to take a short trip with my mom in May/June. Does anyone have suggestions of a good place for that type of trip? We prefer to drive but aren't completely opposed to a short flight. Also, my mom isn't into adventurous stuff, museums, history, or sports. She is more the beach and shopping type.

Re: Mom/Daughter Trip

  • How about South Florida? H and I have been going for long weekends for the past couple of years and have only paid 60 dollars each way. We prefer Lauderdale because there is a fabulous all-suite Hilton there right on he beach.

  • Charleston. My mom and I did a mother/daughter trip there for my 21st birthday, and we had a great time. We spent time at the beach, shopped all around town, did a carriage tour, ate at great restaurants, had drinks, etc.
  • We went to Hilton Head last May.  We rented through VRBO, which was nice cause we had a condo on the beach with a kitchen. We've also done Savannah.  St. Augustine is beautiful this time of year.  There are lots of fun shops there.  Or what about Amelia Island?  We went there a few years ago.  It shouldn't be too crowded then either b/c it's post spring break but before everyone gets out of school (if you go in May).

  • I second Charleston. My mom and I did a mother/daughter trip there and it was great! We did the carriage ride tour, ghost tour, and of course some shopping. Since your mom likes the beach, you might want try a rental at .... um... I think it is called Wild Dunes. We had a condo rental. And when you decode to venture farther, Mom and I did a trip to Bermuda too and that was also great ;)

  • I third Charleston. I really like the atmosphere of the place and you can still go to the beach Foley and Isle of Palms. Also they have a really awesome art festival there the Spoleto.
